ATLANTA, Sept. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- John C. Rogers was elected Chairman of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation's Board of Directors at its September Board meeting. The foundation is the national voice of those living with or impacted by brain aneurysms, which affects 1 in 50 people leading to an estimated 30,000 ruptures annually.

"I'm honored and humbled," Rogers said. "The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is a world-class, non-profit organization that has been doing and will continue to do great things for the brain aneurysm community."

As chair of the board, Rogers joins a globally recognized organization that recently hosted its 10th annual Research Grant Symposium in Atlanta, GA, at which $310,000 in grant money was awarded to 11 recipients whose research is impacting this disease. The Foundation has three missions: to help support families and those who have suffered a brain aneurysm; to advance cutting edge medical research; and, to be the advocacy voice of the brain aneurysm community in Washington.

"We're delighted to have John at the helm of our board. His varied expertise and commitment to the cause will enable the organization to reach new heights," said Christine Buckley, Executive Director of the Foundation, which was started in 1994 at Massachusetts General Hospital. "There is so much to be done for those impacted by brain aneurysms, and with John's leadership I am confident we will make greater strides to promote awareness and save lives."

Rogers is an entrepreneur who lives in Wisconsin. Last year, he lost one of his great friends, Marc Marotta to an aneurysm and joined the Foundation's board a short time later.
