SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Sept. 28, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mayor Ivy Taylor and United Allergy Services CEO Tom Thill today celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the new company headquarters with more than 100 employees, officials, local business and community leaders, and healthcare professionals joining as special guests. In celebration of the grand-opening, United Allergy Services donated 100 computers to Compass Rose Academy. Most of the speakers at today's ceremony spoke about the "vision and commitment to service" offered by United Allergy Services and their associates across the U.S.
The new 19,000-square-foot facility at 70 NE Loop 410, Suite 600 will serve as the home office for staff of 75, including 39 Millennials, support 635 employees and 3,500 customers across 20 states. The innovative design, with an emphasis on state-of-the-art office technology, was adapted to meet the needs of Millennials who are now the largest generation in the U.S. workforce, according to the Pew Research Center. That's one in three workers between the ages of 18 and 34 on the average payroll. At United Allergy, over 75% of their entire nationwide employee population are Millennials. Companies creating more collaborative office environments that attract Millennials are getting an added bonus by also improving recruitment and employee retention rates.
The corporate headquarters was designed with tech and digital needs in mind for mobile employees. Soft seating, collaborative areas, Wi-Fi, cloud-based systems, and an abundance of outlets allow staff to be mobile and not tethered to their desks. Work stations are angled at 120⁰ for visual privacy and white noise reduces distractions and offers privacy. Conference rooms and phone booths are available for private meetings and personal phone calls. Treadmill work stations allow employees to multi-task and stretch their legs. Natural light hits every work station, increasing productivity, higher levels of concentration, a 13% increase in short-term memory and reduced eye strain and stress levels. Work stations also have lower walls that increase airflow for more even temperature distribution and improved indoor air quality for a healthier workplace. To balance work, ping pong tables, break rooms, and at-cost snacks offer employees relaxation.
United Allergy worked with Culture Based Interiors Group (CBI Group), a local specialist in collaborative workspaces, to focus on furniture systems allowing fluid communication of goals, ideas and feedback between the organization as a whole. Brent Warrilow with CBI Group said today's furniture designs are created around community inspired ergonomic office furnishings from lounge and breakout furniture to incorporating plenty of power outlets at workstations.
