FALLS CHURCH, Va., Oct. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CSRA was recently awarded a $34 million contract to support the scientific peer review of grant applications received by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). The agency's mission is to enhance the potential for medical or scientific breakthroughs in cancer prevention and cures by expediting innovation in research. The single-award, recompete contract has a one-year base period of performance and includes four, one-year options.

CSRA will support CPRIT's endeavor to position the state of Texas as a world-class leader in cancer research and prevention services by providing various scientific management, information technology and administrative services, including:

  • CSRA's Software-as-a-Service Grants Management platform, which provides comprehensive and integrated support for grant application receipt, evaluation and post-award management. The platform features P2RMIS®, CSRA's industry-leading technology system for managing all facets of the peer review process;
  • Recruiting, training and engagement initiatives targeted at scientists, clinicians, specialists and patient advocates to serve on peer review panels and ensure the most meritorious grant applications are funded;
  • Online, teleconference and video-teleconference meeting and planning services to support hundreds of participants during the expert review panel process; and
  • Scientific evaluation of funded research grants to ensure CPRIT's mission is being met.

"We're leveraging our best technology, deep knowledge of peer review best practices, which spans decades, and our close partnership with CPRIT to help the agency fund cancer research and prevention initiatives that will truly make an impact in people's lives," said Paul Nedzbala, CSRA executive vice president, Health and Civil Group.
