SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 14, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Launchpad Digital Health, the leading next generation of seed funds + accelerator for digital health, is open for applications to its second cohort of companies for Launchpad Digital Health – Ground Zero (LDH-GZ).

Launchpad Digital Health – Ground Zero (LDH-GZ) is a new, four-month digital health program for entrepreneurs desiring to pressure-test and expand their business. Ground Zero companies will be eligible for funding in multiple ways. The LDH-GZ second cohort runs from November 1, 2016 to February 28, 2017. The program includes co-location in our new headquarters in San Francisco, alongside LDH portfolio companies, mentors, and corporate partners. LDH-GZ is designed to immerse entrepreneurs in our digital health hub, testing and calibrating their business plans, operations, scaling, partnerships, and more.

The co-founders of companies in the first cohort of LDH-GZ said:

"Launchpad is not an accelerator but a digital health family, you love, you fight, you pivot, you learn and you come out stronger on the other side! We couldn't have chosen a better path for Vitls!"  Louise Vorster, Vitls – COO & Co-Founder

"If you are entering the US market, you must understand that domain-specific, value-added guidance is critical. Launchpad provides it. On a daily basis. And this is real value. I've learned an invaluable amount in a very short period of time."  Giangiacomo Rocco di Torrepadula, Amicomed - CEO & Co-Founder

"We entered the LDH-GZ program with a product and vision seeking a market. From their experience with B2B digital health, LDH-GZ recognized what we were trying to do; called out our ignorance when they saw it; encouraged us when we were onto something; and gave us the resources, network, and methodologies to build our business. We have since refined our value proposition and go-to-market strategy, expanded our team, landed our first customer, and prioritized new product iterations largely derived from our customer research spurred by the LDH-GZ program."  Andrew Trees, Agathos - CEO & Co-Founder

"Working alongside other startups in this digital health ecosystem hub was a tremendous boost. We all went through the same process, and the open willingness to share experiences added great value to the program."  Yulin Li, Aegle Palette - CEO & Co-Founder

"I love the way this program is organized and operated. It provides a lot of insights, tips, and advice while letting me run my business at full speed. The program is especially helpful when looking for institutional funding – the managing partners are really experts, and they help tremendously during the group sessions and 1:1 meetings. The community of LDH portfolio companies and fellow program members is fantastic as well."  Michael Pliskin, MedM America – CEO

"What was most valuable about being at LDH-GZ was our proximity and interaction with all the other companies in this space. We built long-term relationships with other teams and gained exposure to other technologies in our space. Our relationships have led to several new collaborations in business and technology which would have otherwise been much more difficult to achieve." Malekeh Amini, AVA Health - Founder & CEO

We require no equity from companies in Ground Zero. The total cost for companies includes rent and all aspects of the program.

All companies, upon completion of the program, have opportunities for investment:

  • The top company, judged by our experts at LDH (partners and advisors) will receive at least $100,000 investment.
  • Three companies from GZ will present at the Launchpad Digital Health Finalist Day for consideration as LDH investments, which will be held in 2017.
  • LDH-GZ graduates will be connected to our partnered healthcare funding networks, including preferential presentations with our new partners at Life Science Angels.

LDH-GZ also has corporate partnerships for this program. The AWS (Amazon Web Services) partnership for hosting credits alone allows for immediate payback of the program.
