During the month of October, people across the country are raising awareness and research funds for pediatric, breast, prostate and other cancers by taking a whipped cream pie in the face as part of the #WhipCancer Challenge.
On Friday, October 21, 2016, the #WhipCancer Challenge is partnering with Sports Talk 1050 WTKA, The Ticket for a 12-hour radio takeover to spread awareness and raise money to support children and families touched by cancer by helping accelerate the development of new lifesaving treatments and enhance survivorship.
From 6:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m., listeners will learn more from physician-scientists and patients from the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center and C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in addition to live interviews with former University of Michigan athletes and coaches.
"Cancer sucks, plain and simple. We are at the midway point of a three-month stretch of raising money and awareness to fight pediatric, breast, prostate and other cancers. It's the perfect time to use our airwaves to #WhipCancer." said Ira Weintraub, Program Director, Sports Talk 1050 WTKA, The Ticket.
Thanks to corporate support from sponsors Absopure, the Prostate Cancer Understanding Prevention Screenings Foundation, and Meritor, listeners will have an opportunity to have their donations matched to double their impact throughout the day.
Listeners will be encouraged to participate in the #WhipCancer Challenge directly through social media and to make donations to support cancer research.
