CLIFTON, N.J., Oct. 31, 2016
CLIFTON, N.J., Oct. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Optical Academy announced they will be onsite at Camden Dudley Elementary, Camden, New Jersey, this weekend to provide more than 350 students and their families with free eye exams and glasses.
This Saturday, 10/29/2016, in partnership with the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) and Camden Education Association and Community Schools, will host a free vision care event at Camden Dudley Elementary School located at 2250 Berwick Street, Camden, NJ, 08105.
The Camden Education Association knows that 80% of what their students learn begins with how well a child sees. For the 70% of students who fail a school vision screening, many of whom can't afford a comprehensive eye exam and glasses, there's hope.
"Our educators lead with their hearts every day and the parents of our students rely on us to help ensure their children get the best learning experience in one of the most economically challenged and dangerous cities in the US. For many, the school setting is a home away from home and we are committed to ensure every child can see properly, accelerate their learning and achieve their dreams, now and into the future. Changing their lives today, creates future leaders, doctors, CEOs, teachers, moms and dads of tomorrow," said Nancy Holmes, NJEA Field Representative.
As a valued NJEA partner, Optical Academy has provided onsite eye exams and eyewear for NJEA leaders, schools and communities for more than 6 years. This weekend's event will also include Optical Academy's newest company, "See A Beautiful Day, Every Day" (SABDED). SABDED is a non-profit company that provides free onsite comprehensive vision care, exams and glasses for those who lack access and the ability to pay for proper eye care, locally and nationally. Following a brief ribbon cutting ceremony, SABDED and Optical Academy will begin seeing students and their families.
"We are so thankful and appreciative of our partnership with the NJEA. Through the Camden Education Association and Community Schools grant program we will have all hands on deck and no one will be turned away. While the event is expected to have between 350-400 attendees, we will be onsite to see everyone that attends because everyone deserves to see a beautiful day – every day," said Abby Ayoub, CEO of Optical Academy and SABDED.
See A Beautiful Day, Every Day started in 2016 with one focus - helping others get proper vision care who need it most. While they have held numerous events throughout the past year, this weekend will commemorate their official launch as the company goes national in 2017.
"We are overwhelmed with excitement about our newest program and through our most valued partnerships with NJEA and other community focused organizations who are giving back to the communities they serve. Giving the gift of sight to children who are under-served and lack access to proper vision care gives them a brighter future so they get to dream without limits, live out loud, and have a real chance at a better future by making a difference, now," said Ayoub.
