WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Caregiver Action Network (CAN), the nation's leading family caregiver organization, announced today an alliance with Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Sunovion) to help raise awareness of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), highlight the burden of the disease and support patients and their caregivers.
With assistance from Sunovion, CAN is building a grassroots community for COPD caregivers from all walks of life. For veterans, parents, spouses, partners and friends, CAN is committed to providing caregivers with an online support system, including informational and inspiring videos featuring other COPD caregivers.
"As an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for family caregivers, we are pleased to partner with Sunovion on this campaign," said John A. Schall, M.P.P, Chief Executive Officer, CAN. "It is our hope that through our combined efforts, caregivers will come to understand that they are not alone and that there are many resources available to them."
"Sunovion has a long-standing commitment to patients with serious respiratory conditions," said Denise Strauss, Vice President of Marketing at Sunovion. "This partnership is intended to increase the understanding of COPD, the patient-caregiver relationship, and steps that caregivers can take to help improve their lives and the lives of their loved ones."
The launch of these online resources in November aligns with National COPD Awareness Month, National Family Caregivers Month, and Veteran's Day.
