NEW YORK, Oct. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Burson-Marsteller, a leading strategic communications and global public relations firm, today announced that Henry Engleka has joined the firm as Chair, U.S. Healthcare Practice, effective immediately. Based in Washington, D.C., he will be responsible for leading and growing the practice across the U.S.
Engleka joins Burson-Marsteller with over 20 years of experience in healthcare communications, marketing and management. His expertise includes positioning, corporate image, rankings, physician and patient self-referral, reputation management, cause-related marketing, crisis communications, internal communications and media relations. An advocate of integrated communications platforms, Engleka works with clients to harness the power of multiple programmatic areas such as philanthropy, corporate sponsorships, advertising, communications, public affairs, owned, paid and earned media.
"Henry has an extensive background in healthcare, as a policy expert, hospital administrator and communicator across multiple industry segments," said Michael Law, U.S. CEO, Burson-Marsteller, to whom Engleka reports. "He knows how to engage stakeholders across the healthcare system and, as such, will provide enormous value to our clients. He also is dedicated to mentoring talent and developing the next generation of healthcare communicators. I am thrilled to have Henry as a colleague and partner on our U.S. Leadership Team."
Prior to joining Burson-Marsteller, Engleka was Senior Consultant and Marketing Steering Committee Member at the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. Before that he was Executive Vice President leading the New York Health and Wellness practice at Porter Novelli. While there, he led innovation and technology strategies for the global healthcare practice and conceptualized and launched the firm's U.S. Payer/Policy Advisory Board to counsel clients seeking to develop value-based reimbursement strategies. In addition, he developed communications and marketing programs for a variety of stakeholders including biotech, data-analytics, health system and pharmaceutical to improve provider and patient engagement, reputation management, crisis mitigation and increased market share.
Before Porter Novelli, Engleka was CEO and Founder of P4 Strategy Group, a strategic health communications agency in New York City. He also had been co-founder of Zibbel Inc., which offers mobile health solutions to providers of health services (integrated delivery systems, pharmaceutical companies, employers, payors, etc.) as channels to consumer and physician end-users. Earlier in his career, he spent nine years with Widmeyer Communications, ultimately serving as Principal and Managing Director of the New York office.
Prior to his work in communications, Henry served as Chief Operating Officer for the Mount Carmel Guild Behavioral Health System managing day-to-day operations and focusing on revenue cycle management. Engleka also served as Assistant Executive Director and Staff Director for the American Psychological Association (APA) in Washington, D.C. While at the APA, Engleka conceived, developed and edited a series of books designed to help behavioral health professionals understand and succeed in the rapidly changing marketplace.
"I'm delighted to join Burson-Marsteller and contribute to its tremendous culture of ideas-driven, evidence-based communications that drive business results for clients," said Engleka.
