Biosensing Instrument Inc. (BI) announced today that the BI-4500 received the prestigious R&D 100 Award from R&D Magazine for innovative products recently introduced to the market. The awards were announced at the 54th Annual R&D 100 Awards and Technology Conference on Nov. 3 in Washington, D.C.
“We are thrilled with this honor,” said Dr. Tianwei Jing, President of BI and third time R&D 100 winner. “We have a long track record of introducing novel technology to the market, and this award is a testimony of BI’s commitment to advance biosensing research.”
The BI-4500 is a 5-Channel Label Free Surface Plasmon Resonance System used in the life science basic and applied life research to study the interactions between molecules in real time without the aid of fluorescent labels. The systems are utilized to measure biomolecular kinetics, molecular adsorption, concentration of biomolecules and strength of molecular interactions. With the SPR analysis modules, researchers can perform various applications such as electrochemistry and gas phase SPR with ease.
Often referred to as the “Oscars of Invention,” the annual R&D 100 Awards celebrate the most significant technology inventions of the past year. The R&D Top 100 list was established in 1963 and over the past 53 years, R&D 100 has recognized various revolutionary products in the areas of analytical test equipment, new materials, high-energy physics, biomedical products, software and biotechnology.
