18th November 2016 (Edinburgh): ClinTec International was shortlisted for Scale-Up Business of the Year at the glittering Scottish Business Awards 2016 ceremony held last night at Edinburgh International Convention Centre. This prestigious internationally recognised annual event recognises success in Scottish businesses and this year the keynote speech was given by Academy Award winner actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio.
With over 2000 business leaders in attendance, the Scottish Business Awards celebrates successful, growing and dynamic businesses in Scotland whilst raising significant amounts of money for local and International charities. The Scottish Business Awards are supported by The Hunter Foundation, set up by Scottish billionaire Sir Tom Hunter, and the Royal Bank of Scotland. The Scale-Up Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Pinsent Masons, seeks to highlight emerging Scottish businesses which have demonstrated a huge potential for sustainable, scalable growth through growth and investment over the past two years.
This nomination as a finalist recognises ClinTec’s dynamic organic growth and entrepreneurial spirit as an agile medium sized Clinical Research Organisation (CRO) and Functional Service Provider (FSP) with a global presence. As ClinTec approaches its 20th anniversary, this is a strong acknowledgement of ClinTec's rapid growth and of the steps already put in place to ensure further strong growth ahead.
ClinTec, a multi-award winning and privately owned full-service CRO which embraces diversity, was formed nearly 20 years ago by CEO and Chairman, Dr Rabinder Buttar. ClinTec provides global functional services and full service solutions to major pharmaceutical companies as well as supporting leading small and medium-sized biotech companies in oncology, rare diseases and other therapeutic areas. With locally based ClinTec employees in over 50 countries, ClinTec delivers innovative, customised clinical research solutions and functional services to the clinical drug development sector in a fast, flexible and focused way.
Dr Buttar said, “I am thrilled of this prestigious recognition of ClinTec's strong growth and further development of our service lines. My thanks goes to ClinTec employees and our clients who have travelled with us on our amazing 20 year journey of success and made our achievements possible. I look forward to us continuing the exciting journey, partnering further with each of our clients and bringing new clients on board, as ClinTec continues to evolve whilst meeting each client’s current and future needs".
Under Dr Buttar’s visionary leadership, ClinTec has grown organically into a renowned global player within the clinical research outsourcing arena and is the most geographically diverse mid-market CRO in the world, with an operating platform on a par with its multi-billion dollar competitors. ClinTec’s success lies in a twofold approach, providing flexible, customised solutions which meet its client’s needs, whilst at the same time creating an excellent working environment that supports and nurtures its staff.
In addition to driving business growth, Dr Buttar has established unique training programs across multiple regions to provide continuous development opportunities for staff and attracting new talent into the clinical research sector. In 2015 Dr Buttar was admitted into Strathclyde University’s Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs for her work in establishing and developing ClinTec and was previously named a top 10 practising entrepreneurial scientist in Britain by the British Science Council.
This new recognition adds to ClinTec’s successful year after wining Scale-Up Business of the Year at the Minority Suppliers Development Network 2016 Awards and being named Best Mid-Sized Pharmaceutical CRO 2016 in the UK in Global Health and Pharma (GHP) Magazine’s International Life Science Awards.
