Tyme Receives Notice of Allowance of Patent for SM-88 in China

Posted on: 02 Aug 17

NEW YORK, Aug. 02, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tyme Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:TYME), a clinical stage biotechnology company developing cancer therapeutics to address multiple tumor types, today announced that the State Intellectual Property Office of China has issued a Notice of Allowance for Chinese Patent Application No. 2013800127241. This patent covers Tyme’s core metabolic platform to fight cancer, primarily described in issued U.S. patents 8,481,498 and 9,549,969, and is the basis for the Company’s lead product SM-88.

“The size and importance of the Chinese healthcare market is unquestionable. We believe that SM-88 will not only help address the clear market need for better cancer care in the U.S., but is also ideally suited for China and other international markets,” remarked Ben Taylor, Tyme’s President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Taylor previously served as co-Head of Healthcare Investment Banking for China and Southeast Asia at Goldman Sachs and has worked with both domestic and multinational pharmaceutical companies in China. “This patent gives us a foundation to advance SM-88 through partnership in China and build Tyme’s reach globally.”

Tyme has over 65 patents issued and pending across major markets globally.

About Tyme

Tyme Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing cancer therapeutics that are intended to be broadly effective across tumor types and have low toxicity profiles. Unlike targeted therapies that attempt to regulate specific mutations within cancer, our therapeutic approach is designed to take advantage of a cancer cell’s innate metabolic weaknesses to compromise its defenses, leading to cell death through oxidative stress and exposure to the body’s natural immune system. Our lead clinical program, SM-88, is a first-in-class combination therapy in Phase II development for prostate cancer, and we are preparing to initiate an additional Phase II clinical trial for pancreatic cancer.
