Vaccine market is greatly expanding, due to strong sales of influenza vaccines, cervical cancer vaccines, etc., as well as a flood of new products being launched. Since vaccines for other fields such as HIV, dengue, cancer, etc., are still waited to be developed and put into practical use, even further promotion of R&D and market expansion is anticipated.

At BIO tech 2012 Conference taking place from coming April 25th, the latest trends/technologies on vaccine development will be disclosed.Among total 350 sessions (expected) covering a vast range from the industry’s hottest topics to the latest academic research achievements, one of the most focused topics this year is “Vaccine”.
- Merck’s strategies on vaccine development -One of the highlights would be the Keynote Session inviting Vice President of Vaccine Discovery, Merck Research Labs: Dr. John W. Shiver, who is leading Merck’s worldwide vaccine basic research and working on development of novel vaccines against a broad range of diseases including HIV, influenza, RSV, dengue and bacterial infections. He will address on “Opportunities and Challenges for New Vaccines”.
Merck also supports BIO tech 2012 as a Sponsor, as MSD (Subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc. Whitehouse Station, NJ, USA). They will disclose their needs on seeds and platform technologies applicable to discovery and development of new vaccines, as well as their latest strategies on licensing and vaccines.
- World trends on vaccine development -Among fierce competition worldwide over vaccine development, grasping the world trends is essential for every professional involved in the current industry. Special Session 5 features vaccine development trends from 2 aspects, “China” (the world’s largest vaccine producer) and “the US and Europe”. Inviting key persons on vaccines from China Medical City and WHO, this would be a prime opportunity to grab the current world trends.
