Job Summary:

Global biopharmaceutical – UK Affiliate Head of Medical for key Oncology area. Leadership and management of the therapy area medical team.

Requirements:

BACKGROUND

Our client is the UK affiliate of a global biopharmaceutical company focused on areas of high unmet medical needs and is a leader in providing differentiated medicines to help improve patient outcomes in key areas such Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis and the fertility franchise.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

As the medical lead for Oncology you will be responsible for providing high quality medical/scientific expertise and strategic insight into the relevant therapeutic disease area.

The position is a key strategic role responsible for the creation and implementation of the therapy area medical strategy and plan. The role also involves the leadership and management of the therapy area medical team (office and field based staff).

You contribute with cross-functional teams to strategic decisions in the overall product strategy. You will also provide expertise on the creation and development of activities (promotional and non-promotional) and ABPI/IPHA/ABHI Code of Practice review/certification also ensuring compliance with all UK regulatory guidelines and company SOPs.

The Head of Medical Oncology reports to the UK Medical Director and works in a matrix environment with the medical and commercial teams.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Medical Qualification and full GMC registration or Pharmacist (GPhC)
Significant experience in medical affairs roles within the pharmaceutical industry

previous experience in the Oncology therapy area would be advantageous

Broad experience in line management of medical teams would be advantageous.
In depth knowledge of regulatory guidelines in relation to the Pharmaceutical and devices Codes of Practice such as ABPI, IPHA.
