The Chiltern EU Business Development team is looking to recruit a talented and dedicated Senior Account Director to join our Medical Devices business segment in order to grow and further develop the European market.

The Senior Account Director is an essential member of the Business Development team. The responsibilities comprise in maintaining a flow of projects from established and developing accounts and building a strong long term relationship between Chiltern and the client and for progressing accounts to a more strategic level.

• Develop and maintain existing accounts; where appropriate new accounts will be sought
• Considerable focus on working established accounts
• Generate a stream of repeat business from these accounts
• Develop appropriate development strategies for accounts and implement them in conjunction with the Regional BD team and operational heads
• Work and support members of global BD and country management as appropriate to expand relationships with existing clients into new regions and service areas
• Work with Account Managers to progress accounts into global key accounts where applicable
• Have a deep understanding of the different models of outsourcing and potential strategies and services that Chiltern can offer a client and to expand the services offered
• Coach/mentor Business Development Executives when appropriate and support the development of new team members
• General Business Development Duties
• Be well informed and knowledgeable about all Chiltern departments, services and business models and to actively support development of these
• Visit both existing clients and new clients where appropriate on an ongoing basis to establish good working relationships and make professional and interesting presentations with regard to all services offered by Chiltern International based on a well-developed understanding of the clients requirements
• Assist in preparing and issuing accurate and appropriate budgets and proposals in response to client request.  This includes gathering all necessary information from operational personnel and ensuring the message to the client remains consistent from all business and operational contacts within Chiltern
• Present such proposals to the client where necessary
• To maintain awareness of current developments within clinical research, relevant therapeutic areas and the pharmaceutical industry in general
• To attend conferences and meetings in order to promote the name and services of Chiltern International

• BSc or BA degree in a biomedical, related life science or business-based subject, a higher degree is preferred
• Previous experience in business development, ideally a minimum of 6 - 8 years
• Previous clinical research experience and knowledge, ideally in medical devices
• Strong sales experience in either a Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices or Clinical Research environment is mandatory for this role
• A proven track record of successful business development within clinical research
• Strong contacts and relationships with outsourcing personnel and key decision makers within the pharmaceutical and biotech industry
• An in depth understanding of the clinical trials process
• Confidence to be able to communicate effectively with the Senior Management Team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent personal presentation and inter-personal skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Experience and success, working in a busy team environment under time pressure
• Must be fluent in the English language (written & spoken), additional languages are of advantage
• Good computer literacy with working knowledge of PCs, Windows and Microsoft Office applications

• Home based solution is granted
• Location of residence: Western Europe
• 50% travel availability nationally and potentially internationally clients, attendance at conferences and presentations
• Overnight stays may be required
