Job Summary:

A full service CRO with a global reach are looking to add a senior project manager / project director to their UK base in West London. This boutique CRO is going through expansion due to organic growth of consistent delivery within the following therapeutic areas: oncology, rare and orphan diseases, respiratory, dermatology, vaccines and anti-infectives.



The ideal candidate will have a background in operational management, data management, study start up, clinical trials. Along with a wider breadth experience in their latest role they must have 4 years project management experience working across the full drug development lifecycle.

Title: Senior Project Manager / Project Director

Location: West London – office based position

Salary: DOE


You will act as the main point of contact for complex global study and lead a team of project managers. Previous line management experience will be essential to perform this role, the culture of the firm is to develop internally and have a strong team-working environment. They work in some of the most complex areas of clinical research and will need to lead with exceptional eye to detail and a strong determination to service internal and external studies to the best of their potential.

Role Expectations:

  • Acts as the primary point-of-contact and liaison with the Sponsor to provide outstanding customer service and serves as an ambassador to promote the high quality and ethical image;
  • Leads the study team with the goal to contribute towards efficient management of trials;
  • Organises study meetings and presentations, including Sponsor meetings and teleconferences, and study team meetings;
  • Oversees all aspects of study site management to ensure a high quality of data is generated by investigative sites, resulting in consistently low query levels and in acceptable QA reports;
  • High level of involvement in departmental process improvement initiatives, including SOP & Working Practise Guidelines (WPG) review and writing;
  • High level of involvement in business development activities, including bid defence meetings;



  • A BSc in a life science degree related discipline
  • Preferred 8+ years in a CRO or pharmaceutical firm
  • 4+ years in a project management position
  • Experience in line management of project managers and CRAs
  • Financial study budget management
  • Performance in bid proposals and negotiating site initiations of new studies
  • Demonstrates a superior understanding of clinical research phases and the processes involved in the planning and management of a clinical trial;
  • Processes involved in the planning and management of a clinical trial;
  • Organises and manages all aspects of a clinical trial, with minimal support;
  • Resolves project related problems and prioritises workload to meet deadlines with minimal support;
  • Demonstrates superior knowledge of ICH-GCP
  • Exhibits high self-motivation, and is able to work and plan independently as well as in a team environment;
