The Head of Key Accounts, UK and Ireland is responsible for leading the Key Account team to accelerate the future growth of Alcon’s Vision Care portfolio in the UK and Ireland. The role is responsible for the design and delivery of both strategic and tactical sales plans for key accounts, ensuring excellence in execution and superior sales performance. The Head of Key Accounts will lead a team incorporating Senior Business Account Managers (SBAM) and Business Account Managers (BAM), and will also span a number of trade channels including multiple high street optical retailers, supermarket chains, wholesalers and internet retailers. As a business leader of one of the top markets in Europe, it is also expected that this role will provide input and influence at regional level.
•Work closely with other Departmental Heads to deliver and execute cohesive business planning processes including Customer Business Team development and annual rolling marketing and customer activity plans ensuring business, brand and commercial objectives are fully aligned and met
•Accountable for leading and defining the key account strategy for sales aligned with broad company strategy and achieving agreed annual sales and profit budgets
•Tactical management of all key account sales and customer matters in order to achieve both short and long term sales and profit objectives
•Provide accurate sales, investment and demand forecasts
•Plan for the continuous development of the Vision Care Key Account team including recruitment and talent development, resource and succession planning and coaching/training
•Drive account penetration and contact planning at a senior level to build positive relationships and ensure on-going and effective engagement with customer leadership teams
•Work in close collaboration with the National Sales Manager to support the field sales team and provide relevant and timely input and communication in order to facilitate Excellence in Execution delivery
•Any other duties or projects as requested by the Line Manager commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility for this role, for which the associate has the necessary experience and/or training

#LI-ALC Minimum requirements The ideal candidate will have:
University degree qualification or equivalent in business or a related field
•MBA or post graduate /advanced degree qualification in business or management is desired but not essential
•Extensive knowledge and experience of the sales function including relevant chain, channel and category management
•Extensive Key Account Management experience essential
•Commercial awareness/business acumen of the vision care market and or pharmaceutical or FMCG industry; knowledge and understanding of products, services and marketplace
•Experience of cross-functional working within a matrix environment
Proven experience in developing and establishing successful key relationships and delivering excellent standards of customer service
•Proven ability to lead, manage and influence people cross functionally
•Proven record of managing processes related to employee selection, development, retention, and motivation, as well as employee relations
•Demonstrates strong strategic orientation, with the ability to manage tactically, when appropriate
