The purpose of the Head of Market Access role is to develop and implement innovative approaches and to grow the Alcon UK Market Access team, focusing on Medtech market access and commercial operations. As the healthcare market continues to change determining which patients have access to which treatments under which conditions is paramount. Value-based tendering and ‘Managed Services’ are key projects that sit within Market Access. As a key member of the UK team, working with colleagues in Geneva and across Europe, the Head of Market Access is responsible for interacting with highly experienced individuals, both in Market Access, Public Affairs, and health economics. The position is based in Frimley though with some flexibility.
** Market Access, Health Economics, pharmaceutical, healthcare, pricing **
•Delivers solutions to the market/customers by developing effective value propositions
•Regularly monitors UK environment for healthcare, pricing and reimbursement policy issues and/or opportunities; analyzes risks
•Stays abreast of local market access issues and trends within area of responsibility; proactively looks and examines opportunities to influence policy and adoption in UK market
•Effectively translates results of Market Access research and studies into clear and concise messages for specific internal and external audience consumption that highlight the economic value of specific products and applications
•Assists, where necessary, with the negotiations with agencies, policy makers and HTA authorities to achieve optimal access for Alcon products
•Leads partnership with the Surgical BU on pricing, tendering and new models of care
•Assists Market Access colleagues and marketing colleagues with the development and management of access strategies for pre-launch products

#LI-P Minimum requirements The ideal candidate will have:
•University degree qualification or equivalent in a related field
•MBA or post graduate /advanced degree qualification in business or Health Economics or a related field would be an advantage
•A formal education in a Life Science subject, is not considered essential, but intellectual capacity to understand ophthalmology is necessary
•Extensive experience in either Medical Device and/or pharmaceutical industry
•Knowledge and experience of Market Access/Pricing and reimbursement/tariff trends and submission within the UK
•Working knowledge of Health Economics and it’s applications
•Good understanding of NICE processes and prior history of a NICE technology appraisal submission for devices
•Working knowledge and experience of UK healthcare market (regulatory, pricing, reimbursement, tendering, health systems)
•Track record of successfully establishing market access within the UK environment
•Demonstrate understanding of how funding systems work and the pricing and reimbursement process in the UK for devices; effectively apply knowledge of the market, industry trends, and product attributes to affect the Market access process.
