Working outsourced and fully dedicated to a global pharmaceutical company, the Country Lead Monitor will be assigned to phase II and III studies in a dual capacity, performing both site management activities and also lead activities at a local country level.

Typical Country Lead Monitor tasks include:

  • Coordination of the South Africa CRA team
  • Management of the study start-up process at a country level, including leading site selection, designing the feasibility process, development of core country study documents
  • Review of trip reports to ensure quality
  • Tracking of country study budget
  • Proactive risk management, including design and implementation of preventative / corrective action plans
  • Deliver training to new study team members
  • Perform co-monitoring visits
  • Provide updates to and raise potential issues with the wider European study team

In addition to the above, the Country Lead Monitor will be tasked with:

  • Conducting on-site monitoring visits (feasibility, site selection, initiation, routine, close out)
  • Manage the relationship with investigator site staff, including providing training
  • Manage clinical drug supply to site
  • Attend investigator meetings when appropriate

Operating as a key part of a global study team, the Country Lead Monitor plays a fundamental role in our client’s drug development process. 

Given the dual nature of this position, the selected candidate for the Country Lead Monitor position will be able to demonstrate effective time management skills. Previous experience of on-site monitoring, along with a strong background in clinical operations leadership (eg delivering training, management of study start up, trip report review) are both necessary for this position. Fluency in English is also required.
