Role Summary:

This position reports to the UKI Commercial Excellence Senior Director and is responsible for working cross functionally across Business Units within the UKI Commercial structure to drive alignment and consistency and excellence through all marketing processes and projects. The role will entail offering strategic and developmental insight to drive marketing best practices and tools across Business Units in line with regional commercial excellence guidelines and materials.

Role Functions:

Driving use of Marketing best practices and tools which are aligned to regional commercial excellence guidelines and materials. Establish Standard Operating Processes / Protocols for all marketing related activities within the UKI commercial business.

Work with marketing managers and other stakeholders to ensure a rigorous project management approach to all marketing related activities and initiatives, including new product introductions, phase-outs and marketing communications campaigns, incorporating key performance indicators and project milestones.

Develop and manage a robust marketing planning and review process across the business in line with the business’s strategic priorities and establish marketing KPI’s, monitor ROI and work to develop insight and actions accordingly

Create and lead a process to identify and review market potential for therapy areas, in conjunction with the Business Information team and Business Unit marketing teams

Develop a robust process for development of market-leading value propositions including development of commercial insights to feed message development

Develop, manage and lead a consistent and robust product launch process which incorporates business cases, project plans and stakeholders communications plans

Collate, assess and communicate operational practices and propose opportunities for on-going improvements to efficiency and effectiveness. Drive and develop the enhancement and implementation of core marketing processes.

Identify opportunities to enhance and leverage best practices based on internal and external benchmarks

Forge strong relationships and provide strategic advice and consultation to UK & Ireland marketing teams to develop and integrate marketing excellence capabilities and competencies

Develop, implement and embed a marketing excellence framework within the UK & Ireland business, generating advocacy for the program

Build relationships with key cross functional stakeholders to drive alignment between and consistency across Marketing projects and processes. Coaching managers to deliver against marketing excellence initiatives

Oversee the training and coaching of new and existing marketing personnel in areas of marketing planning, product launch processes, value proposition development, branding, communications planning and other pertinent subjects


Bachelors Degree required; Marketing or Business degree preferred

Project management experience essential

Classic marketing background (MBA or advanced CIM qualification preferred)

Excellent written and verbal English

Be able to demonstrate extensive experience in the operational management of an in-house marketing function

Have a strong understanding and appreciation of leading edge, marketing disciplines along with a passionately curious nature for agile improvement

Be a consummate marketing professional with an excellent eye for detail, able to handle multiple projects adeptly and possessed of great amounts of energy and drive

Have excellent interpersonal and people management skills, able to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders within in the Marketing function and the wider business.

Have a strong appreciation for the importance of detail and consistency in every marketing programme, and be able to convey this to other team members and relevant stakeholders and manage their inputs to this end

As an integral part of the Marketing team, be highly sensitive to the need to achieve consistency for respective business units, and as such be able to work closely and intuitively with other stakeholders both within Marketing team and the wider business to achieve this aim

Display strong business acumen, working to ensure marketing supports business and brand/franchise development, identifying gaps in businesses knowledge and initiating strategies to fill them

Be an intuitive team player and team leader with a diverse approach who enjoys using their practical coaching mindset to develop members of the team

Be a good influencer, good at engaging with stakeholders so that the value of marketing is understood, in the process developing lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with team members and key business stakeholders

Develop a detailed understanding of business unit strategies and associated marketing strategies

Ability to multi-task effectively, to meet deadlines and work effectively in an environment where priorities are changing rapidly.

Have computer literacy skills covering a wide range of software packages, to include, but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Adobe . Knowledge of MS Project or other project management software desirable.
