Kyowa Kirin International plc is preparing to launch a pipeline of rare disease products targeting Bone Metabolism, Oncology, and CNS to add to its existing Specialty portfolio. We are in a period of growth  We need you to increase our policy, public affairs and advocacy capabilities to support this expansion.

International Director of Public Affairs

This is an opportunity to establish a global function.  In this role you will develop, shape and execute a global policy, public affairs and advocacy strategy for our global Pharma business.

Specifically, you will:  

  • Monitor and analyse the external environment, tracking policy trends, spotting risks and opportunities and develop policy insight
  • Design and deliver initially EU policy, public affairs and advocacy strategies and eventually provide this same service in the US
  • Engage global affiliates in delivering this global strategy, working together to develop policy, public affairs and advocacy strategies that support in-country and regional business objectives
  • Build patient advocacy capabilities within the company, educate patient advocacy groups about EU reimbursement of medicines, and develop communications channels between country level patient associations to ensure a consistent global voice
  • Articulate policy positions and communicate complex clinical and economic concepts to a broad range of external stakeholders
  • This position will be based in our London (Chertsey) office

About you:

To excel in this role you will need to demonstrate a deep understanding of a broad range of health policies across the EU and ideally the US within the pharmaceutical industry environment, and the levers for influencing policy change.

You will have: 

  • An extensive personal network in the rare disease space, across health systems, within EU-level patient and healthcare professional associations, in-country patient advocacy groups and healthcare professional bodies, policy and political audiences
  • US exposure/knowledge
  • It is expected you will have a deep sensitivity to other cultures, actively working in other countries to understand the subtle nuance of cultural differences
  • Therapeutic experience in Rare Disease and ideally with Bone Metabolism, Oncology, CNS exposure
  • Proven ability to work in high growth time constrained environments in mid-large Pharma, ideally with some communication agency experience which services the Pharma industry.
  • Digital media experience
  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Excellent English skills and other languages a plus
  • A Degree-level education,
  • Excellent ability to manage people and work in a cross matrix organisation
