Kyowa Kirin International plc. (KKI) is in an exceptional period of growth that will further accelerate as we take our innovative new orphan drug products to market, offering a rare opportunity for you, a senior Marketing professional with gravitas and aplomb, to be a key player in the company’s transformation.


KKI is preparing to launch our first of several innovative Rare Disease products including, in partnership with Ultragenyx, a recombinant, fully humanised monoclonal antibody against the phosphaturic hormone fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), targeting X-Linked Hypophosphatemia - a rare genetic disorder of phosphate metabolism leading to a spectrum of painful abnormalities including rickets, osteomalacia, spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis.


With demonstrated impressive clinical activity and a near term planned European submission for conditional approval this product and an ever expanding development portfolio will offer you the opportunity to lead and assume responsibility to execute and manage the launch of KKI’s rare disease portfolio. You will ensure launch excellence at all levels of the organisation. Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Leading a team of marketers to develop coherent and aligned global brand strategies and launch plans.
  • Coordinating with local affiliates in local launch planning and execution, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Driving & leading launch excellence initiatives to create strong international teams who share, learn and deploy best practice throughout the organisation
  • Tailoring activities specifically to the Rare Disease environment with emphasis on targeted approaches for key treatment centres and building long term relationships with those centres and patient groups.


In order to excel in this role you will:


  • Be an exceptional Sales and Marketing professional with proven leadership and influencing strengths;
  • Have successfully launched across a range of speciality products, including Rare Diseases
  • Possess insight into the key drivers of launch excellence;
  • Experienced in a range of pharma businesses, perhaps in both large and mid/small pharma
  • Have the desire to both lead and strategise while at the same time be fully comfortable rolling up your sleaves and getting involved with execution
  • Be deeply knowledgeable in the EU Pharma markets, with US exposure preferred
  • Align with our company’s DNA: of getting results: having a sense of urgency; and executing flawlessly  


This role can be located within the Kyowa Kirin International headquarters in commuting distance from Edinburgh (Galashiels, Scotland), or from a London based office in Chertsey. Commensurate to the role, you will be rewarded with an excellent salary and benefits package and have the opportunity to travel globally.
