High Level Function Overview


The purpose of Enabling Units, GPPS & GMA IT is to partner with Enabling business units/functions (Finance, HR/Learning, Legal, Global Compliance, Corporate Affairs), GPPS, GMA and GPEP teams to improve financial, portfolio, competitive intelligence and market data capture, management, reporting and analytics and to drive simplification in business processes in these areas.  The ambition of Enabling Units, GPPS & GMA IT is to provide world-class expertise and leadership in Technological solutions, BI Analytics and Information Delivery that accelerates and improves Financial and Strategic Decision Making in the company , coupled with radical simplification of business processes to drive efficiency and productivity


Enabling Units, GPPS & GMA IT will focus on the development and maintenance of applications, information platforms and analytics tools to support Finance, HR/Learning, Legal, Global Compliance, Corporate Affairs), GPPS, GMA and GPEPbusiness processes, as well as the delivery of data analytics services to support any of these functions in decision-making.  Delivering the Enabling Units, GPPS & GMA IT portfolio of projects and services needs people with hybrid skill sets covering technical, analytical, project management, service management, BRM and business analysis skills, combined with an excellent knowledge of Enabling functions and GPPS and GMA processes.

Key Accountabilities


The role holder should deliver tangible and measurable value to GPPS, GMA and GPEP by taking a leading BRM role in the delivery of the Enabling Units, GPPS & GMA IT portfolio.   The Senior Business Relationship Manager must develop strategic relationships with key business stakeholders across our customer areas.  They will identify ways for IT to contribute to achieving and exceeding business objectives and drive the delivery of innovative business solutions to create maximum competitive advantage.  They will take accountability to understand the business needs in depth and analyse, validate and document the business and system requirements in all projects and across programs to deliver strategic advantage for the organisation.  The role will partner with the IT Capability Leads to ensure the delivery of high quality business cases encompassing a full benefits realisation and financial cost model, oversee the design and modifications of relevant business processes and ensure that proposed solutions meet established quality and compliance standards.  The role will leverage their knowledge and trends and in-depth understanding of the business area direction and priorities to drive the creation of innovative solutions.  The business areas in scope include: GPPS, Global Medical Affairs, Global Payer Evidence & Pricing.


Build strong strategic relationships with large and complex customer groups, developing deep understanding of their business strategy, future direction, changes and needs, lead key

engagement initiatives to understand demand
Will have responsibility for developing the roadmap for IT for our customer functions in line with business need and associated Enterprise Architecture, drive accurate customer forecasting & demand planning for solutions, and development of performance metrics and customer scorecards to define and monitor delivery of value
Lead high-level investigations on functional and technical requirements specifications and feasibility studies and advise on practical alternatives.   On occasion, translate requirements into design specifications, determine testing levels and manage test case and test script development in line with IT methodologies, processes and standards, ensuring that requirements are effectively met, tested and implemented
Lead business analysis process design efforts to analyse, document and review business processes and research and analyse new and existing products, procedures or workflow needs for new opportunities or process re-engineering
Lead the creation of business impact assessments and business readiness plans to determine the impacts of changes on business units and roles
Proactively identify opportunities for IT to deliver innovative solutions to customer issues/challenges and situations where leading edge technological innovations can be deployed to business advantage
Proactively identify ways for IT to gain commitment to IT initiatives, using specialist knowledge to market established, changed or new IT services to customer groups
Work collaboratively with:

Customer groups to build their understanding of the IT strategy, programmes and challenges and manage expectations by effectively aligning needs with IT delivery capacity
Business Intelligence, Architecture, Project/Programme Management and Service Management to agree the future shape of proposed solutions and initiate projects in partnership
Enterprise Solution Architecture – contributing to the direction of technology roadmaps and strategy for process and/or functional specialism areas and taking into account wider functional or enterprise scope
Global Process Owners (GPOs) in Finance (and similar roles in other customer groups) – business strategy, future direction, changes and needs
Software Shared Services team (SSS) –Veeva and SFDC
Other Business Relationship Managers to ensure identification of synergies and cross-business innovative opportunities
IT Capability Managers to initiate projects, and define and monitor the delivery of project value compared to the promised benefits
Customer Service function to ensure that all IT interfaces to the business are operating effectively, manage overall satisfaction with IT services and proactively identify risks, issues as well as improvement areas
Work in collaboration with End to End Capability Service Manager team in contributing to development and maintenance of roadmap for existing applications

The Senior Business Relationship Manager is expected to have an excellent understanding of the following areas below and a broad understanding of the Pharmaceutical Industry.


In-depth knowledge of Medical Affairs function within Life Sciences – specifically processes related to in field and above market Medical roles and capabilities
In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical product lifecycle, including evidence generation activities, pre-launch planning, and product launch

Knowledge of business processes related to Payer Evidence and pricing within lifescience.

7 years+ Business Relationship Management experience, ideally in a Pharmaceutical Financial, Commercial or Development domain
• Strong influencing, networking and team working skills
• Evidence of leading and developing innovative solutions
• Experience of coaching and developing others (within per group and/or beyond)
• Able to manage negotiations, expectations and solutions across complex
• Strong interpersonal skills and passion for customers
• Ability to make decisions in pressure situations at a management level.

• Experience in working with external suppliers, including RFI/RFP selection processes
• Strong Collaborator
• Good communication skills (both oral and written) and facilitation skills with the ability to work with others to achieve objectives.
