Overview

The Software Developer I/II collaborates with business units to improve the end-user experience and adoption of web and internal applications. The Developer builds and maintains end-to-end solutions based on business functional requirements.  Additionally, the Developer ensures that the applications performance metrics meet stated targets.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Partners with in-house and cloud vendors to negotiate and customize business, functional, and design requirements for enhanced end-user experience.
  • Creates user-centered designs based on business and functional requirements, user research, market analysis, customer feedback, and usability findings.
  • Designs user interfaces by using conceptual design techniques such as creating visual mockups, prototypes, and diagrams.
  • Collaborates with business unit liaisons to understand and develop business and functional requirements.
  • Enhances, maintains, and troubleshoots application requests.
  • Develops software and designs standards, processes and procedures, and guidelines to ensure they meet business rules and government regulations.
  • Participates in user research and usability testing to help improve the user experience.
  • Improves the user-experience by applying best practices and industry trends currently in the marketplace.
  • Performs career enhancing efforts to facilitate learning.

Qualifications 

 

Academic and Professional Qualifications: 

  • Technical degree in related field and/ or similar certifications needed.
  • Minimum of 2 years of application development experience mandatory.
  • Experience using software project lifecycle tools (i.e. Bug Tracking, Requirements Management, etc…).
  • Experience with server side architectures and system design and development.

Skills & Experience: 

  • Knowledge of the following applications and tools:
    • Advanced proficiency in .NET programming languages (ASP.NET, MVC3 and beyond, C#, WCF, and WPF).
    • Advanced proficiency in SQL and TSQL.
    • Basic to intermediate knowledge of PowerShell.
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of a scripting language (Python, Ruby, or Perl).
    • Intermediate knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle relational database.
    • Advanced proficiency in HTML and a basic understanding of HTML 5.
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SharePoint development.
    • Basic to intermediate knowledge of SharePoint administration.
    • Operating Systems: Windows, UNIX.
  • Basic knowledge of  Graphic Design tools.
  • Comfortable with Agile and iterative methodologies.
  • Ability to understand end-user needs and user experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and voicemail is required.
  • Effective verbal and writing skills; English + local language, if relevant.
