Roles & Responsibilities of the position

Being a Biostatistician means participating in high quality clinical research in Oncology that serves the interest of Society.
The biostatistician is responsible for all statistical activities pertaining to these activities, including but not limited to:

With the medical experts, support the department disease-oriented groups in the elaboration and realization of their scientific research agenda.
To provide methodological support for the development, conduct and reporting of clinical studies and exploratory research projects. This includes following a project from the statistical design at the initial conceptualization, writing of the protocol, supervising the database setup and cleaning, all the way through to the final analysis report and publication of results. This involves direct interaction with medical specialists in the field.
To contribute to the development and maintenance of state of the art methodology in the department through active contribution to the scientific bi-weekly meetings of the department and attendance to statistical courses and conferences.
To disseminate the methodology of clinical trials through teaching assignments at training courses or conferences.
To provide independent and objective assessment of projects in line with internationally recognized guidance and practices.

Job Requirements

A Master’s or PhD degree in biostatistics or ScD degree with excellent statistical skills.
5 or more years of experience in clinical research and preferably in oncology.
Expertise in the design of studies and in survival analysis are strong assets.
Experience with the use of SAS (R is an asset).
Be able to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment with technical and non-technical collaborators.
Good communication skills in both oral and written English.
Capable of presenting and debating projects with partners
Able to write scientific communications
Dynamic and capable of working autonomously
Team player
