Here is an opportunity to take the next step in your career as a Clinical Programmer and work with a specialist technical team in our world class facility based in Welwyn Garden City.
As a Clinical Programmer you will be involved in supporting global data handling activities by providing study databases, and specific data collection and reporting tools to clinical project teams across a range of therapeutic areas. Clinical Programmers will perform tasks in at least two of the three following focus areas i.e. development of study databases, data extraction and transformation or reporting.
For this position we are looking for a Clinical Programmer to perform data extraction and transformation of clinical trial data into the SDTM data model, as well as a keen interest & aptitude for either study databases build or reporting tools to clinical project teams.
Duties and responsibilities
Focus area: Data extraction and transformation:
The Clinical Programmer will:
· programme, maintain and execute the transformation of data into the appropriate data model (SDTM)
· execute the transformation of data into the required format to enable data uploads
· perform unit testing of transformation programs
· perform QC of other programmer’s transformation programs
· ensure data is extracted from the EDC system and made available for data cleaning, reporting and analysis
· create and/or participate in the development and review of specification documents for data transformation into the appropriate data model
· delivers data in the data tabulation model to the statistical programming team
· Other duties and responsibilities include supporting study setup and closeout activities, investigating database issues, proposing solutions as appropriate and contributing to the timelines for deliverables at the study level
Within this role you will be providing guidance and support to internal customers and/or service providers on study-level tasks, as well as reviewing and monitoring study-level tasks performed by other clinical programmers or service providers as needed. You will also provide technical mentoring on study tasks to other Clinical Programmers.
You will be expected to effectively communicate ideas, project goals and status of work, identify a range of problems and risks and propose mitigation strategies.

You will be educated to a degree level or equivalent and have significant working experience in programming in SAS, and mapping to SDTM standards. You will have strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks or goals, developing and committing to realistic estimates and plans to complete required tasks.
You will have experience / aptitude in the development of reports and visualizations outputs for data cleaning, clinical narratives and reconciliation activities. Or the equivalent skill in the development of the clinical study database and all components.
