Job Summary:

AXESS has been retained on an exclusive basis by this top global pharmaceutical company requiring an expert in the ABPI and IPHA Codes of Practice to head up their UK and Ireland Healthcare Compliance function. In this high profile role, you will provide leadership and expertise to the business while instilling a culture of ownership and adherence across the company.

Based at the UK and Ireland affiliate office along the M4 Corridor.

Heads up UK and Ireland Compliance team

Reporting line into the company’s legal function.



Proactively champion and lead awareness of the Codes and related processes and policies throughout the company to ensure high knowledge and understanding; drive a robust compliance culture to support commercial advantage and minimise business risk.

Ensure robust, effective compliance policies/SOPs and processes are established and adhered to.

Identify potential areas of compliance risk; propose, develop, implement and/or coordinate action plans to mitigate risks and avoid repetition

Act as main point of contact for all potential compliance violations. Define, implement and operate processes for handling such violations, ensuring that learning is shared and preventative actions are put in place.

Operate as Healthcare Compliance Officer (Corporate function) for customer interaction for UK/ Ireland to meet corporate compliance requirements (e.g. for international engagement of HCPs)

Lead, engage and manage the Healthcare Compliance team and improve each team member’s performance and motivation by providing coaching, training, regular constructive feedback on performance, and opportunities for development.



  • Significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a similar position
  • Extensive, deep expertise and knowledge of the ABPI & IPHA Codes of Practice.
  • Strong understanding & network of pharmaceutical sector and compliance contacts
  • Knowledge of NHS and private healthcare policies, priorities and organisational structures across the UK & Ireland.
  • Deep knowledge of health systems in all markets and their changing environments
  • A strong business partner; able to integrate the needs for compliance into a commercial context, simplify strategy into actions
  • Highly professional; able to foster credibility and trust
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, a confident presenter of ideas/data and projects
  • Ability to clearly communicate risks and benefits in the context of business strategy
  • Highly assertive and persuasive with significant relationship building skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders including senior management and external policy makers and stakeholders
  • Able to champion and lead change within cross functional teams
  • Strong problem resolution & facilitation skills, positive solutions oriented approach
  • Possesses good project management capability and prioritisation skills
  • Strong team leader with proven ability to catalyse cultural change and deliver project objectives.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
