An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Senior Director within our Business Development team at our Clinical Research Organization (CRO), to assist with achieving the company strategy by contributing towards devising and implementing a strategic business development plan in accordance with the company's objectives.
•Take responsibility for meeting sales targets as agreed with the Vice President, Business Development
•Prepare regular business development plans to define targets and strategic direction in line with company objectives and global targets
•Recruit, train and coach suitable Business Development Managers required in the team and territory with a view to making each member of the team successful in terms of their targets and objectives
•Develop new business opportunities
•Extensive travel to carry out sales visits to customers and prospective clients worldwide
•Build business development efforts in Europe and elsewhere as deemed appropriate with the Vice President, Business Development
•Contribute towards the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan in conjunction with the marketing team and Vice President, Business Development
•Ensure participation / support from members of the relevant departments in business development efforts
•Attend, exhibit and sometimes present at industry events
•Prepare client presentations
•Review and write proposals for new business opportunities
•Take responsibility for account management roles for specific clients
•Create and maintain partnerships with other companies whereby such a partnership will generate business for both parties
•Provide timely sales report information to the Vice President, Business Development
•Ensure team and personal client information in the CRM is kept up to date and work with administrator to ensure accuracy
•Educated to degree level
•Previous role within Business Development at a CRO
•Service industry experience, particularly pharmaceuticals
•Ability to operate at manager level and work with the Vice President, Business Development
•Ability to persuade peers when necessary
•Excellent communication skills (oral and written), good organisational and analytical skills. Must be flexible. To be able to work under pressure and use own initiative
