We are recruiting for our Data Management team in Leeds and are currently seeking to hire a Dictionary Coding Specialist to help support the team with clinical and medical coding for all assigned projects. This is a permanent, full time position, based in our Leeds office or home based within UK.

We are recruiting for our Data Management team in Leeds and are currently seeking to hire a Dictionary Coding Specialist to help support the team with clinical and medical coding for all assigned projects. This is a permanent, full time position, based in our Leeds office or home based within UK. 

About the Job:
Within this position, your duties will include: 

  • Perform the clinical medical data coding aspects of assigned projects 
  • Assist the technical leader on all coding aspects for projects including start-up, maintenance, and completion activities 
  • Assist with completion of Covance Data Management Systems Configuration documentation to ensure accurate, timely, consistent and quality medical coded data. 
  • Assist in the review of Data Review Guidelines, Edit Check Specifications, Data Management Plans, Coding conventions where applicable to medical coding of clinical data 
  • Support the setup, maintenance and closure of the data management aspects of the project to ensure consistent, cohesive data handling and quality of coded clinical data 
  • Support the development and implementation of global SOPs and Work Instructions within functional area; laise with other disciplines in the development of SOPs that impact functional area 
  • Achieve client satisfaction through delivery of quality medical coded data, on-time and on-budget 
  • Maintain technical competencies via participation in internal and external training seminars 
  • Support project staff on achieving client satisfaction (internal and external) through delivery of quality medical coded data, on-time and on-budget. 
  • May assist with verification of coding dictionaries 
  • Review literature and research technologies/procedures for improving coding practices 
  • Act as a mentor to data management staff in coding activities and provide necessary training sessions. 
  • Assist with the identification and implementation of solutions to project data management coding issues and concerns, including proactive prevention strategies based on metrics and forecasts 
  • Filing of Data Management documentation and data management related administrative tasks as requested, including maintenance of eTMF as required. 
  • May serve as a client laison including provision of project specific coding status, cycle time, and productivity metrics 
  • Facilitate the creation of Coding reports 
  • May assist Data Management team with data review and/or query generation as needed 
  • Performs any other duties as assigned. 


About You:
To be successful in this position, you will need to be educated to BSc level (or equivalent) in Life Science, Pharmacy or related subject. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate: 

  • Thorough knowledge of Standard Coding Dictionaries 
  • Knowledge of effective clinical data management practices 
  • Knowledge of ICH Guidelines and GCP including international regulatory requirements for the conduct of clinical development programs, especially as related to medical coding of clinical data 
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal 
  • Substantial relevant work experience in data management including experience of assigning coding dictionary terms to clinical data 
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills 
  • Knowledge of clinical trial process and data management, quality management and systems applications to support operations 
  • Working knowledge of the relationship and regulatory obligation of the CRO industry 
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with peers 
  • Demonstrate good organizational ability, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate team working skills and good collaborator skills 
  • Demonstrate a constructive problem solving attitude while deadline focused with time demands, incomplete information or unexpected events 
  • Demonstrate time management skill and ability to adhere to project productivity metrics and timelines 
  • Additional experience may be substituted for education requirements.
