The role of the Business Development & Legal Manager is to design partnership strategies with industry, and contracts to enable the implementation of our mission and vision. In particular, support to heads of disease programmes to identify, build and manage partnerships, and ensure best contractual practices that minimize operational risks and secure access rights to users in low and middle income countries.

Position’s background:

FIND’s success relies on strong partnerships with all the actors in the IVD R&D and access landscape, from academia and biotech to large pharma/IVD companies, NGOs, local health authorities, etc. To that end, we need BD support for our IVD partner management, as well as contracts management support across all sectors.

The role of the Business Development & Legal Manager is to design partnership strategies with industry, and contracts to enable the implementation of our mission and vision. In particular, support to heads of disease programmes to identify, build and manage partnerships, and ensure best contractual practices that minimize operational risks and secure access rights to users in low and middle income countries.

This is a broad role, covering everything from negotiating CDAs for discovery purposes to partnership management to negotiating complex collaboration and licensing agreements for IVD development, manufacturing and commercialization. The applicant must be willing to take a holistic approach and perform all levels of work required to support the BD efforts in a small, energetic and leanly resourced team. The position is based in Geneva, Switzerland and reports to FIND’s CEO.

Position’s Main Tasks:

o   Management of the BD efforts for one or more specified disease areas:

o   Manage, in coordination with the executive, BD and scientific teams, interactions with portfolio partners related to strategic and contractual matters;

o   Build sustainable and healthy relationships with current and prospective partners, notably those from industry;

o   Work with the CEO and BD Consultant to identify opportunities for synergies and potential conflicts;

o   Liaise with programmes to anticipate partnering and contractual needs

o  Manage key stakeholders during negotiation and preparation of agreements

o  Identify business opportunities and present them to the CEO and BD Consultant

o  Develop a good understanding of the diagnostics landscape and development pathway, and identify existing and potential partners’ capabilities and strengths

o  Curate and feed FIND’s databases for BD

o  Review all contracts / other documents that include commitments for  FIND 

o  Negotiate, review and draft documentation for business transactions and contribute to the processes and checklists that guide FIND practices

o  Perform administrative tasks required to support the BD activities for the disease area

o  Participate in external events and meetings relevant to FIND BD activities.

o  Drive the development of commercially relevant business plans

o  Support due diligence of prospective partners and monitor performance.

Professional Background:

3-5 years of experience related to technology and product development of medical technologies, especially diagnostics. Demonstrable experience in one or more of the following:  strategic planning, market access, product management and launch, sales and marketing, and business development.
Passionate commitment to solving the toughest problems of poverty through business and market-based solutions
Experience in contract negotiation and drafting;
Demonstrated ability to manage strategic relationships, including management of the key stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to prepare, lead and close deals.

-          Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Flexibility and ability to travel.

Education:

-          Scientific/ Commercial Master degree plus MBA

Fluent in English. French, Portuguese and/or Spanish would be a plus
