** Government Affairs/ Corporate Affairs / Public Affairs / Policy / Communications / Marketing Policy **

Job purpose:

The purpose of the Government Affairs Manager role is to lead on the development of government affairs strategy to support the business objectives across England and broad access to medicines policy in Wales. The Government Affairs Manager will drive implementation of related policy and government affairs initiatives and facilitate effective trade association engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

•Develop, maintain and share excellent understanding of the national and local NHS environment in England and Wales.
•Identify and interpret challenges and opportunities for designated priority brands within government and NHS policy, judging whether government affairs activity would add value.
•Develop policy positions aimed at delivering more favourable business environment for Novartis Pharmaceuticals.
•Develop and execute a plan of public affairs activity in alignment with relevant functional teams (wider Government Affairs, Communications, Market Access and Franchises)
•Lead all engagement with Government, NHS and other relevant political influencers (eg, patient groups, think tanks)
•Manage Novartis public affairs agency and budgets on allocated projects.

#LI-P Minimum requirements The ideal candidate will have:

•Experience in healthcare policy and public affairs, gained within a patient group, agency, industry, Government or NHS role
•Well-developed understanding of healthcare policy and regulatory environment, particularly NICE and NHS policy and structures in England and Wales
•Proven ability to develop trust-based relationships with parliamentarians, government officials, national level NHS stakeholders, think tanks, and other third parties
•Strong networker able to manage a large number of external relationships
•Outstanding oral and written communication skills
•Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
