Reporting to the Regulatory Affairs Director, the International Regulatory Projects Manager is a key member of the Regulatory Affairs management team responsible for key regulatory project delivery, regulatory consultancy, quality/knowledge management and supporting the provision of associated internal and external training programmes.
The key responsibilities can be summarised as follows:
Regulatory Project Team Leadership: To manage key regulatory project teams, starting with the role of Team Leader for the DG Sante food labelling legislation project: - steer the project, monitor quality according to procedures, and provide a sounding board for ideas, and offer support if difficulties of any sort should arise. - Deliver the key tasks of the Team Leader as detailed in the Project Brief* and against agreed timelines & KPI’s. - Conduct post-project evaluations to ensure that key learnings can be implemented for future projects.
Regulatory Consultancy: Provides expert level food law consultancy to designated clients and authorities. Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of relevant existing and forthcoming EU and national food regulations and communicates these effectively to support the company and their clients.
Quality Management: By carefully monitoring documentation, reports and control of the companies knowledge resource helps to ensure that all Regulatory Advisors work is undertaken with confidence, with the most recent references and resources available to enable work to be completed consistently to the highest of professional standards.
Knowledge Management: - Facilitates the collation, maintenance and dissemination, from appropriate sources, of the relevant legislation, guidelines and opinion necessary for the company to conduct its services. - Provides support and coaching for Team Managers & Regulatory Advisors in the application of this knowledge aligned with the achievement of the company strategic imperatives. - Oversees the production of a periodic food regulatory newsletter.
Regulatory Training: Supports the delivery and management of a defined programme of open, client-facing and internal training courses/webinars etc. on food regulatory matters.
Business Development: Supports the Client Services Director and Regulatory Affairs Director and associated teams with regard to food regulatory input in scoping the company new business development opportunities.
Min. 5-7 years’ experience in a food regulatory affairs role.
Team management experience.
Commercial awareness of the food industry and consultancy businesses.
Experience in working within a small business environment
MSc or higher degree in Food Law/Regulatory Affairs or Food Science or, a Degree in Food Science or in a related field coupled with experience in a regulatory affairs environment.
Expert knowledge of EU legislation.
Some knowledge of Codex Alimentarius, FAO, WHO, WTO provisions.
Good understanding of national food law from a range of different EU countries.
Project coordination experience
Some awareness of regulatory requirements in other (non-EU) international markets.
OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Fluency in English with excellent oral, written, IT and presentation skills.
Fluency in at least one other EU official language
Self-disciplined and able to work on their own e.g. in researching regulatory requirements and as part of a collaborative team.
Proactive, positive, enthusiastic – demonstrating a “can do” attitude with a hunger for knowledge sharing.
Analytical, structured thinker with attention to detail but able to communicate complex issues in a concise, understandable manner.
Quality-focussed individual with a drive for seeking out and developing continuous improvement opportunities aligned with Ashbury’s ‘Right First Time’ approach.
Good understanding of the food industry including food development and consumer trends impacting on regulatory affairs matters.
Experienced regulatory mentor/coach.
