The primary role of the Upgrade Project Manager is to provide tactical management, administration and leadership to project teams on highly complex upgrade projects, in order to ensure that projects achieve the agreed upon objectives within the established tolerances of time/budget.

The primary role of the Upgrade Project Manager is to provide tactical management, administration and leadership to project teams on highly complex upgrade projects, in order to ensure that projects achieve the agreed upon objectives within the established tolerances of time/budget.

Working in partnership with different business and technical areas, the Upgrade Project Manager will be responsible for the coordination of multidisciplinary global project teams to deliver technology and operational projects related to upgrade of EDC platforms and implementations of varying size and complexity.

The Upgrade Project Manager will be responsible for the co-ordination of a platform of projects (e.g., Oracle InForm); ensuring that all project objectives, integrations, priorities and details are clearly communicated across stakeholders in order to maximize understanding and commitment.

This role has no direct reports and will be based at our new modern Nottingham office.

You will report to the  EDC Upgrade Portfolio Manager and work closely with the Upgrade Analysts, Software and Infrastructure Engineers, Software Quality Assurance, Business Analysts and other Project Managers. You will also have and develop some external relationships with key customers to drive project scope.

Key Accountabilities
- Coordination project management work on a specific projects; ensuring project details, objectives and priorities are clearly followed to maximize understanding and commitment across the team
- Responsible for the timely and effective delivery of personally assigned tasks, bringing to the immediate attention of management any circumstances causing delay, concern or requiring higher level authority to proceed
- In conjunction with key resources from each department, coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
- Responsible for the production and supply of project/portfolio information as requested or required by the organisation.
- Supporting the Portfolio Manager in the development and achievement of the department’s operational and strategic objectives considering the global impact of EDC Upgrades.
- Takes ownership of project/portfolio issues, seeing them through to a satisfactory conclusion, delegating where appropriate and communicating appropriately and effectively
- Actively takes steps to identify and minimize project risks in the short term and longer term.  Define mitigating factors and contingency planning. Proactively incorporates and manages risk mitigation actions thought the project life cycle
- Contributes to the growth/maintenance of the EDC upgrade discipline; acting as a coach and mentor to analysts and related project personnel on principles and best practice
- Assist in the establishing and maintaining standards and procedures for project reporting, upgrades, and documentation, thus ensuring that these solutions conform to company standards and SOPs and bringing to the attention of the bringing to the attention of the management any developments in practice and procedure that warrants review.
- Oversight planning of implementation of specific upgrades solutions, including but not limited to the performance of a product upgrade in addition to implementation across specified clinical trials.
- Compliance to all applicable business and IT related SOPs to ensure consistency of process considerations.

- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, other members of the project teams, senior managers and third-party service providers
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
- Ability to manage and delegate work as part of a team in a matrix environment
- Initiative and self-confidence, adaptable and able to cope with changing and evolving priorities whilst being able to identify new opportunities
- A thorough understanding of generic Project Life Cycle management controls
- A thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- PMP/AGILE designation highly desirable or UK equivalent (Prince 2-Practitioner)

- B.A. of B.S in Life Sciences or Computer Science field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum Work Experience
- Related business experience (project/portfolio manager and/or equivalent) typically gained over a significant period of time.
- Relevant experience with program/project management in a high technology or Internet-based software development environment
- Relevant experience to manage upgrades in a high technology or Internet-based software development environment.
- Strong project management experience including but not limited to implementation and release management of technology platforms
- Knowledge on implementation of EDC platforms in operational environments. is desirable.
