Job Summary:

For our Early Phase Department in Leeds, UK, we are currently looking for a Medical Writing Manager.

We are currently the only CRO with this depth of service offerings.

For our Early Phase Department in Leeds, UK, we are currently looking for a Medical Writing Manager

Job holder's responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for preparation, coordination and delivery of higher complexity clinical documents for studies in the early phases of clinical development, ie Phase I to IIa. 
  • Provide review and feedback on documents prepared by the department. 
  • Performs the scientific review of clinical documents, including protocols, clinical study reports and statistical analysis plans, ensuring scientific integrity and correct data interpretation. 
  • Lead Medical Writing team on large-scale (multiple document) writing projects. 
  • Drives optimal department processes and implements effective project-specific strategies. 
  • Provides medical writing leadership and advice to clients and internal Covance project teams. 
  • Works with the management team to provide project leadership, guidance, mentoring and training to department to ensure best working practices are maintained. 
  • Foster excellent working relationships with all clients, both internal and external, with the highest quality of service in a cost-effective manner on time, every time. 


  • Minimum of first degree in life sciences (or equivalent); advanced degree (e.g., PhD or Masters) preferred
  • Medical writing experience, including experience as a medical writing project lead 
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word 
  • Excellent organizational and time management ability 
  • Excellent knowledge of ICH guidelines applicable to medical writing and other regulatory guidances 
  • Excellent understanding of medical/scientific terminology, data analysis and interpretation 
  • Strong appreciation of the business requirements of a contract research organization
