Job Summary:

AXESS has been retained on an exclusive basis by this top global pharmaceutical company requiring an exceptional Clinical Research leader to head up the UK and Ireland Clinical Research function. This is a high profile role, working in a close collaboration with global and medical affairs teams and leading a large clinical research group with a headcount of 60-70 FTE.

Requirements:

BACKGROUND

 Top 20 global pharmaceutical company with strong portfolio and pipeline

Based at the UK and Ireland affiliate office along the M4 Corridor.

MD or Non MD

If non MD - preferably a higher qualification i.e. a PhD with significant relevant experience

Broad therapeutic focus

 

PRIMARY DUTIES 

To provide leadership and support to the UK & Irish Clinical Operations department in order to meet all commitments.

Interface with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure trials are performed optimally to the required standard.

Manage conflicting priorities (workload/quality vs. budget/resource).

Optimise quality, speed and efficiency of preparation, conduct, analysing and reporting of

phase I to IV clinical trials and development programmes; complying with all scientific, legal, regulatory and ethical standards - to time and to budget.

Create a learning culture & environment and oversee the talent management of the group.

In addition for UK trained/GMC registered physicians: to act as an Educational Supervisor (ES) to physicians in the UK undergoing pharmaceutical medicine specialty training and act as an appraiser for revalidation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Medical qualifications and higher qualifications (e.g. MRCP, PhD etc.) are preferable but not essential if candidate has a scientific qualification with significant Clinical Operations experience and previous experience of UK healthcare systems.

Prior experience leading a large Clinical Research group.

Medically qualified (preferable but not essential)

Proven managerial / leadership abilities

Proven communication skills

Proven experience of resource / budget planning
