Requirements:

Alcon Laboratories is the world’s leader in eye care and a division of Novartis. Alcon is involved in the development, manufacture and marketing of surgical and other vision care products that treat eye diseases.

Alcon Ireland, based on the Model farm Road, Cork manufactures Intraocular Lenses – which are used by ophthalmic surgeons to replaces the eye’s natural lens following cataract surgery. Alcon is in the process of increasing its product portfolio by introducing new eye related products to the Cork facility.

General

• Assist on teams such as yields, continuous improvement and safety as required.
• Assist in training area personnel.
• Assist other departments on temporary assignments.
• Assist in continuous process improvement efforts
• Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to established and evolving Alcon and Novartis QS requirements.

Year 1: Manufacturing

• Operate assigned equipment or perform assigned processes in the production of Alcon product.
• Maintain knowledge and perform operations in compliance with applicable SOP.
• Document activities performed on PHR documents and other product/labour tracking systems in compliance with GMP's as specified in area SOP's and as directed.
• Adhere to area dress, cleanliness and safety procedures.
• Maintain area, furniture and equipment in a clean, careful and orderly manner at all times.
• Use process knowledge to recognize and correct day-to-day process problems where possible, bringing unfamiliar or unusual situations to Team Leader or Supervisor for attention.
• Clean down and disinfect equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader.

Year 2 & 3: Manufacturing

• Maintains proficiency in area processes and equipment and other area requirements and coordinates or provides training to others assigned to work area.
• Assures proper maintenance of paperwork associated with tasks performed and maintains reports required for area.
• Maintains knowledge of and suggests revisions to applicable SOP's ensuring area personnel are trained on same.
• Makes task assignments to area workers to meet daily output requirements.
• Audits work in assigned area and identifies problems that have the potential to impact output or quality goals.
• Answers task related questions and addresses task related problems encountered by area personnel.
• Informs Supervisor on problem areas (including process, equipment or personnel problems) and assists in their correction.
• Maintains on-going job rotation to maintain skills of area workers per their job description.
• Maintains stock of area supplies.
• Monitors and maintains area equipment in a careful and orderly fashion.
• Monitors to ensure compliance with SOP's and safety procedures by area workers.

Year 2 & 3: Engineering

• Responsible for managing extraction of process data for subsequent statistical analysis and Process Monitoring.
• Responsible for updating process performance monitoring trend graphs and yield reject paretos.
• Responsible for specific data mining and statistical analysis per instruction of Process Engineering team Engineers.
• Development of Process Performance Monitoring reports using software systems such as Python, Minitab, Tableau.
• Participate as appropriate in Yield investigations.
• Generate and release key project documents and deliverables for project manager.
• Support engineering projects by providing technical assistance on equipment install and validation, software debugging and process prevalidation studies.

• Support Project managers by carrying out appropriate technical and administrative tasks as required.

Year 2 & 3: Quality

• Develop and maintain recertification procedures & reports.
• Assist Quality Engineers with Validations, procedures and ECO development, preparation and routing.
• Perform Calibration activities according to procedures and within schedule.
• QE equipment maintenance, installations, repair - updating of relevant equipment records.
• Develop and assist Quality CIP initiatives.
• Prepare supplier monitoring reports and actively engage suppliers in follow-up on nonconformities.
Minimum requirements Education:
Minimum: Undergraduate in second year of studies for level 7 or level 8 Degree in a technical discipline.

Experience:
Minimum: Project experience through college course
