Job Summary:

Core Accountabilities: Manage, direct and co-ordinate all activities and resources of an allocated team, within Clinical Data Management. Work effectively with Cmed partners globally to ensure delivery of high quality, timely clinical trial data within budget. Act as a consultant on the requirements for specific Sponsors.


Principal Responsibilities:

Study Management

Ensure the consistent delivery of quality clinical trial data to Sponsors within the specified timeframe and be able to monitor the budgets, resource and implement cost control measures as appropriate
Ensure consistency and quality within the team together with adherence to relevant Standard Operating Procedures
Participate in significant Sponsor interaction; respond to Sponsor requests for information including presentations such as audits, workshops and business planning meetings

Line Management

Manage, co-ordinate, oversee and deliver all data management related activities for allocated team
Manage, coach and develop other members of Clinical Data Management
Effectively manage team resources to cover short terms needs/availability and respond to resource requests from project team and program managers
Review and plan medium to long term resourcing requirements and coordinate with other managers and Associate Directors to ensure projects are adequately resourced
Support the implementation of Cmed and department objectives, ensuring effective communication through to direct reports
Manage performance and progression related issues within team
Perform staff appraisals and conduct staff one-to-one meetings for line management staff


Participate in, and support Business Development activities, i.e. bid defence meetings etc.
Contribute to preparation and review of documentation to support Sponsor Request For Proposals
Actively promote and represent Cmed via attendance at meetings and conferences and as appropriate, become a member/involved with professional associations
Assist and act as deputy for Associate Director of Clinical Data Management as appropriate
Participate in the recruitment of appropriate levels of Clinical Data Management staff
Ensure Clinical Data Management team work in partnership with other Cmed line units
Lead  and implement cross functional process and technical improvement efforts, monitor the outcome and recommend further action
Ensure timely and accurate entry of study information in the time recording system
Evaluates time recording of direct reports in accordance with utilisation targets and project allocations

Essential Work Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge:

Degree level qualifications or equivalent experience
Extensive knowledge of database design, structures and  the handling of data from external sources

Experience in the discipline of clinical data management especially leading EDC studies Extensive experience in leading EDC  studies

Experience in managing of study budgets and study sources
Experience of line management, mentoring and coaching data managers

Desirable Work Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge:

Performed lead data management duties within a Contract Research Organisation
Basic knowledge data review tools for example Cognos, SAS viewer
Experience in leading  biometrics projects
