Health economics is a rapidly developing field that is growing in importance due to aging populations and the increasing burden of healthcare. The tools developed by health economists are widely used for evaluating the clinical and economic value of drugs and devices. This process requires economists, statisticians and clinical writers with a capacity for finding creative solutions to challenging problems. Solving such problems necessitates statistics expertise, as well as an in-depth understanding of the theoretical frameworks employed to assess value in a healthcare setting.

My client is one of the largest privately owned health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) consultancies in the world. The office dynamic is intellectually stimulating, fun and focused on results. The company is in an exciting stage of expansion so there are frequent opportunities for international placements.

Your responsibilities:

You will have full client-facing responsibilities, and will be expected to lead and/or contribute to a range of clinical evidence review and medical writing projects. Key responsibilities include, but are not be limited to:

·           Developing market access deliverables, including:

-      Clinical sections of reimbursement dossiers for HTA bodies

-      Value dossiers and value stories to support the case for new products

-      Systematic literature reviews of clinical evidence

-      Targeted literature reviews, such as those investigating burden of illness

-      Posters and abstracts, and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals

·           Project and task management (including time and workload management to ensure deliverables are on time)

·           Working as a part of a multidisciplinary project team, including health economists, statisticians, editors and project managers to finalise client deliverables within agreed timelines

·           Reviewing other team members’ work

 
Your skills:

We are looking for enthusiasm, vision, flexibility in approach and the desire to play a key role in our highly committed Clinical Evidence Review team. You will need to have:

·           A relevant BSc/BA or post graduate qualification in biochemistry, biology, biomedical science or a closely related field

·           At least 2 years’ experience in medical writing in a consultancy or pharmaceutical environment

·           Technical writing skills with the ability to convey complex information as a cohesive story

·           Research and analysis skills (e.g. the ability to undertake and report literature reviews to include a critical appraisal of the identified evidence)

·           Proven ability to manage projects to within timelines, budget and scope

·           Ability to resolve issues and challenges

 

You will have a distinct advantage if you have:

·           Published work in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences

·           Client facing or project leading responsibilities

·           Familiarity with EndNote reference management software
