This is an excellent opportunity to work within PRA's Strategic Services and therefore be dedicated to a major pharmaceutical client.  The successfull applicant will provide project-level statistical programming support by:

  • Designing and creating analysis deliverables to meet the requirements of clinical studies or integrated safety analyses
  • Managing and enforcing standards for derived datasets and analysis outputs to maximize global data integratability
  • Directing the work of external vendors providing statistical programming services to achieve quality and timely, cost-effective study deliverables

The global programming management team are consistently focussed on identifying and retaining industry leading talent. Using a supportive and engaged management style they will provide a focus for staff development alongside an effective work/life balance. Home-based positions will be considered upon request for applicants with the appropriate experience and communication skills. 


  • Represent Statistical Programming function in support of assigned clinical studies and projects, including global ones
  • Define and manage the structure and contents of derived data set and reporting outputs for assigned projects following respective standards
  • Independently develop, execute, and maintain SAS computer programs, including macro programs, according to Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs), integrated analysis and data specifications, or analysis requests to:
  • Produce statistical analysis output (tables, listings and graphs) involving descriptive and inferential statistics to support creation of the clinical study reports, integrated results, including safety statistics deliverables and regulatory submissions, and ad-hoc and exploratory analyses
  • Perform data manipulations, including creation of derived data sets, related to the production of the statistical output
  • Verify /QC analysis results or derived data sets produced by another statistical programmer, statistician, or an external vendor.
  • For assigned clinical studies/projects or safety statistics projects, identify vendor requirements and participate in the evaluation/selection of Analytical Science vendors. Provide technical oversight of statistical programming activities to external vendors to ensure timeliness and quality of analysis data and statistical outputs. Review and approve key statistical programming vendor deliverables 

In order to be considered for the Lead Statistical Programmer position at PRA, you will have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a mathematical, statistical, quantitative or scientific field.  A Principal level applicant will need demonstrable experience within the clinical environment.

In addition, you will have previously provided successful leadership in the planning, supervision, implementation and monitoring of programming processes, have a strong background in process improvement and working on global initiatives and be comfortable working within an international project team environment.
