Requirements:

Due to continued success and growth both globally and within EMEA, PPD are looking to expand their global Biostatistics and Programming team in the UK.  We are currently looking for a Manager to ideally to be based from one of our UK offices - Cambridge, Bellshill or Winchester - but for the right candidates we many consider this role to be based remotely.

 

The team covers all phases of clinical trials and work on standalone and full service studies.  Clients will range from small biotech companies to large pharmaceutical firms.  PPD covers many therapeutic areas including; CNS, oncology, cardiovascular, respiratory, general medicine and biosmiliars.

 

The purpose of this role is to manage a team of Biostatisticians and Programmers, organising workload across the team and report project status to management.

 

Responsibilities will also include:

Overseeing the Programming aspects of clinical trials from design, through analysis and reporting

Providing Project Management on departmental projects

Assuming project leadership responsibilities as a member of a multidisciplinary project team, working directly with client representatives to assess and develop project goals.

Responsibility for hiring, training, mentoring and resourcing staff

Representing the Biostatistics & Programming department both internally within PPD and with clients and regulatory agencies.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

BA/BS degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related field

5 years of programming and clinical research or related experience

Must have database management, SAS or PL/SQL programming experience

Supervisory experience required

Or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills and abilities

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience in managing and developing staff and their career objectives including the ability to motivate and inspire staff

Ability to train, supervise, and mentor others

Ability to facilitate communications with clients, project teams, departments and staff

Ability to make decisions on company policies and procedures regarding programming

Understand and track project budgets

Understand and participate in bidding programming work

Demonstrate leadership and problem solving capability

Knowledge of clinical trials

Understanding of relational data base structure and experience working with complex data systems

Experience demonstrating a strong attention to detail

Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple staff and assignments

Experience demonstrating leadership ability and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary project team

Excellent problem solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Ability to independently and effectively organize and manage multiple assignments with challenging timelines

Ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities

Demonstrated positive attitude, enthusiasm toward work, and the ability to work well with others

Demonstrated leadership, initiative and motivation

Must be proficient in at least one programming language and have strong technical skills

Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage projects and people

Ability to interact with clients and assist management in business development presentations
