Mary Bolt is recruiting for a Medical Science Liaison to join a new start-up company in the biotechnology industry in a field based role covering the North of England and Scotland on a permanent basis.
The main purpose of the role will be to:
-Foster the collaboration and enhancing of effective scientific exchange with external experts (these partnerships will start from phase II and support building of advocacy) and through the scientific exchange and interaction with the experts will provide reliable scientific data about disease state and products either in development or marketed, support clinical trial activities, and contribute to shape the drug development and commercial strategy.
-Be responsible for the implementation of Medical Affairs programmes in the territory, and only use approved materials for activities as well as contributing to the company's recognition and reputation as a leading biotechnology company.
-Engage in profiling of external experts in relevant therapeutic areas, to build a network of respected experts in the territory.
Further responsibilities will include:
-Fostering scientific exchange and education with external experts and other health care providers (HCPs) to ensure quality and accuracy of medical/scientific information on upcoming or available products.
-Attend local, national and international meetings and congresses to build efficient networks and plan and/or execute Scientific Advisory Boards, based on local needs and plans.
-Provide, in response to a solicited request, non-promotional, accurate, fair, balanced and scientifically rigorous medical/scientific information to healthcare providers and other healthcare stakeholders to enable informed decision making for product listings in guidelines, formularies and in health economic assessments.
-Support the identification and engagement of appropriate clinical investigators and sites and facilitate the implementation of clinical research activities across phase II to IV as well as facilitating the operational aspects of investigator initiated research in line with internal SOPs and as per outlined internal processes, and follow-up on results.
In order to be considered for this role, you will be required to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
-Educated to degree level or above in life sciences, pharmacy or a related field with significant experience as a Medical Science Liaison.
-An in depth understanding of pharmaceutical industry relevant compliance (corporate guidelines, local code) and ethical guidelines (GCP, ICH), especially those governing an MSL position (e.g. related to interactions with healthcare providers, sales representatives, payors)
-The ability to foster scientific exchange, and engage in profiling and outreach to external experts in relevant therapeutic areas as well as the ability to assess scientific and clinical information, rate the evidence and synthesize key content within strategic and regulatory settings.
-Experience with clinical trial design, logistics and evaluation is desirable as well as solid medical scientific writing experience and GPP understanding.
-Excellent communication skills, strong business acumen and innovative and entrepreneurial thinking
