Job Summary:

Head of Medical Affairs required for a leading ophthalmology pharmaceutical company. A chance to co-ordinate Medical Affairs activities for UK & Ireland. Line management and significant launch involvement.

BACKGROUND

As a specialty company dedicated to the ophthalmic field, our client has 15 bases in 12 countries globally and delivers products to consumers in more than 50 countries. In their home market the company holds the No. 1 share in the prescription ophthalmic pharmaceutical market. The company aims to contribute to society by supplying valuable products and services to satisfy unmet medical needs.

The business has been present in Europe for nearly 20 years and is continuing to strengthen its position in further countries so that all patients and health care professionals can have access to their innovative treatments. They have the ambition to become a European leader in ophthalmology.

The company has two imminent launches in the coming year with further launches planned through to 2020 presently.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

As Head of Medical Affairs UK & Ireland, you’ll work with the UK management team colleagues to build a cross functional brand plan for each UK key product. You’ll be responsible for delivery of specific medical affairs activities in the brand plan and supporting colleagues to implement their parts of the brand plan.

You will provide oversight to ensure the UK complies to industry regulatory standards in UK and Ireland e.g. ABPI, IPHA codes, and ensure key SOPs are in place and trained into staff to ensure full compliance with these standards.

You will project lead the KOL engagement plan for each UK key brand and work with colleagues on the management team to create and execute this plan. To establish, develop and maintain relationships with key national and global KOLs in the UK and Ireland for scientific exchanges and medical activities.

You will have line management for a team of Medical Science Liaisons who cover the UK and Irish markets.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of a medical degree with final medical signatory status
Demonstrable broad Medical Affairs experience
Strong management / leadership qualities
Ophthalmology experience would be an advantage, but other specialist or orphan drug expertise would be acceptable.
