The Associate Director, MSL is a field-based position within the Medical Affairs Department. This player/coach role will be responsible for managing a national team of MSLs in our therapeutic categories, and act as a liaison to the medical and scientific community on behalf of Kyowa Kirin.

Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison - Chicago, Ill.

The Associate Director, MSL is a field-based position within the Medical Affairs Department. This player/coach role will be responsible for managing a national team of MSLs in our therapeutic categories, and act as a liaison to the medical and scientific community on behalf of Kyowa Kirin. Responsibilities include identification and relationship building of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Health Care Providers (HCPs) providing meaningful scientific exchanges at medical events in both academic and clinical practice settings.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead US Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program.
  • Create and execute a strategic MSL plan
  • Develop goals, targeting and tools and manage the performance and compliance of MSL team
  • Mentor, develop, train, and lead a team of field-based MSL's.
  • Identify, establish and maintain professional relationships dialogue with national, regional, and local key opinion leaders and allied health care professionals.
  • Review IST proposals from health care providers for merit and support
  • Educate healthcare professionals and managed markets decision makers on Kyowa Kirin’s product portfolio.
  • Identify educational needs and research opportunities and implement tactics to support scientific needs
  • Ensure the appropriate dissemination of transparent, fair-balanced scientific and clinical information, knowledge and services in a timely, ethical and customer-focused manner.
  • Function as a regional medical/scientific resource and work to pair customer needs with available Kyowa Kirin resources.
  • Support clinical research activities (investigator initiated and company sponsored).
  • Facilitate speaker development and training.
  • Engage in timely and fair-balanced scientific exchange with local HCPs in response to unsolicited requests for information related to Kyowa Kirin’s products.
  • Attend and provide scientific support at national, regional, and local medical conferences.
  • Actively participate in advisory boards and clinical investigator meetings.
  • Provide quality and appropriate feedback to headquarters based on field interactions with healthcare thought leaders.
  • Adherence to all company regulatory and compliance policies.

 Position Requirements

  • Advanced clinical/science degree or health care professional credentials required (MD, PhD, RPh, PharmD, NP, PA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3-5 years MSL experience
  • 1-3 years of MSL management experienced is preferred
  • Oncology, Rare Disease or Clinical Oncology experience is preferred
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including building strong working relationships, and managing and resolving conflict.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation)

  • Ability to travel up to 70% including overnight travel
  • Proven track record of success
  • Current knowledge of all relevant industry, legal and regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Commitment to the highest ethical, legal, regulatory and scientific standards.
