The Real World Insights team within QuintilesIMS is leading the development of a new business service, the foundation for which is a pan-European infrastructure to collect, aggregate and report on healthcare and pharmaceutical product use at a patient level. QuintilesIMS will be working with healthcare providers on this new RWI initiative in order to develop access to, codify, combine and subsequently structure for analysis patient-level data sources across multiple healthcare providers in several European countries.

 

 

Role Description

The purpose of this role is to work embedded within various healthcare organisations liaising with IT system owners and research informatics teams to facilitate the harnessing of complex systems to provide access to detailed healthcare data for research purposes. This is an important role within QuintilesIMS, and will be front-and-centre in the development of a ground-breaking and high-profile new service. The role is multi-faceted, and requires a combination of technical IT knowledge and a solid healthcare background, along with strong inter-personal skills and an ability to get things done in an environment where there are many unknowns to be resolved, and within a sector where regulatory compliance is essential.

 

The post-holder will need to be capable of operating remotely and semi-autonomously, and have line management experience to enable them to co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of a Data Integration Engineer and a Healthcare Data Analyst, who will be responsible for conducting exploration of datasets and data quality assessments on datasets, data processing and data onboarding.

 

The role of the Senior Healthcare Consultant:

  • Managing all relationships across a hospital to ensure a respectful and mutually-beneficial long-term partnership
  • Taking the lead on engaging with data source owners throughout a hospital to facilitate the discovery and due diligence of datasets
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of such datasets and communicating that knowledge effectively to colleagues and QuintilesIMS partners
  • Providing the healthcare data context to Healthcare Data Analysts, Data Integration Engineers and other QuintilesIMS colleagues to permit detailed understanding of the quality and utility of identified datasets
  • Understanding the research objectives of QuintilesIMS and its clients and communicating that understanding to data source owners and hospital stakeholders
  • Contextualizing that understanding into a defined data plan for Healthcare Data Analysts, Data Integration Engineers and other stakeholders
  • Coordinating with the data owners to ensure that all Information Governance processes are adhered to
  • A willingness and ability to travel within country

 

And through oversight of Healthcare Data Analysts and Data Integration Engineers:

 

  • Coordinate analysis on the content of discovered datasets to assess quality, completeness and volumes of data
  • Oversee the development and management of technical documentation and data dictionaries
  • Manage the process of extraction of data from hospitals into operational research datasets, including the development and operation of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL)
  • Coordinate the activities of data cleansing, standardization and other transformations to create a higher value research dataset
  • Contribute to data modeling and warehouse design
  • Ensure the data design plan is met and delivered

Your Expertise

Our ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Completed university degree, preferably in a subject such as IT, business informatics, information systems, life sciences, physics or engineering
  • Experience of developing credible relationships with senior level managers, hospital staff and clinical teams
  • Experience within healthcare IT more specifically with patient level hospital data and systems environment
  • Very strong analytics or data management experience in the healthcare environment
  • Able to maintain high standards whilst managing projects and juggling priorities.
  • Demonstrable analytical, interpretative and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including presentations, chairing meetings, workshop facilitation and report writing
  • Fluent in German and business proficiency in English, both written and spoken

Location

The incumbent will be based from our Munich or Frankfurt office with travel on a frequent basis to a hospital location for 3-4 days per week.
