Job Context

The Health Economics Modelling Unit (HEMU) is a Business Unit within PAREXEL Access Consulting. HEMU is a dedicated unit with 30 staff based in the UK, US and Sweden, whose purpose is to provide health economics consultancy services to international pharmaceutical and medical devices companies. HEMU aims to become the go-to agency for imaginative and HTA-compliant modelling that is tightly aligned with scientific evidence and value positioning, efficiently produced, and presented in a clear and compelling manner relevant to its audience.
The modeling that the unit will conduct will include cost-effectiveness and budget impact analysis of drugs and devices. It will also include wider forms of modelling, potentially in conjunction with the Evidence Review and Pricing & Market Access business units within PAREXEL Access Consulting. Projects may variously employ mathematical, statistical, economic, and operational research modeling techniques applied to the evaluation of drugs and devices in a wide range of health conditions.


Summary of role

A Consultant has responsibility for building and maintaining relationships with clients, for providing technical leadership and training to more junior staff, and for managing the delivery of projects on time and to a high quality. In addition, the Consultant has an important role in writing and presenting proposals to prospective clients.

Duties will include:

• Business development: Writing and presenting proposals in response to a request from a client. Attending client meetings to present the skills and experience of HEMU
• Project management: Managing a team of analysts to ensure timely delivery of projects to a high standard, managing client communications, and ensuring projects are delivered on budget
• Technical leadership: Providing technical leadership and training to more junior staff within HEMU, and ensuring own skills are up to date
• Management support: Provide support to the HEMU Vice President in managing aspects of HEMU business performance, as required
Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess:

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline such as economics, mathematics, statistics, programming or related subject
• Evidence of a high level of proficiency in cost-effectiveness and budget impact modelling for pharmaceuticals or medical devices; at least 2 years of experience building models is required
• Evidence of a high level of proficiency in project management and business development
• Experience of working in a health economics consultancy would be an advantage
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Good communication skills both orally and in writing
• Fluent in English both orally and written
• High degree of enthusiasm and self-motivation
• Good level of competency in Excel and related software (e.g. VBA, R)
