Requirements:

We are excited to be working with a fantastic company based in London this role is for someone to join their editorial team within the medical communications side of the organisation. They are well established and the role has come about do to continued expansion, the location of the office make its very easy to commute to with plenty on offer around to do.

 

We are lookign for someone with the following

  • Demonstrable editorial experience within medical education enviroment (wiriting, editing, proofreading)
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Degree in life sciences
  • Print production skills

 

Content creation and quality assurance

  • Copyediting and proof-reading of a wide range of materials generated for departmental projects (e.g. for coherence, structure, consistency, style, grammar/spelling, applicability to the readership)
  • Ensuring project materials are sufficiently aligned with the project brief
  • Checking factual accuracy, and preparing reference packs to substantiate claims made
  • Checking and resolving copyright issues
  • Writing content for a wide range of project materials (e.g. copy for invitation letters, websites, programme books, slide decks, published reports, full manuscripts)
  • Liaising with authors/speakers and resolving their queries
  • Assisting with concept-generation (e.g. helping scope conference agendas, drawing up editorial outlines for printed projects, critically appraising visual concepts)
  • Commissioning content from healthcare professional authors or speakers
  • Ensuring internal quality checklists are followed
  • Coordinating comments on the content of project materials from multiple stakeholders (e.g. internal reviewers, healthcare professional contributors, pharmaceutical company sponsors), and finding suitable compromises when conflicts arise

Personal and project management

  • Balancing editorial tasks relating to multiple projects, making appropriate prioritisation decisions
  • Providing regular project status updates for other team members and clients as required
  • Recommending suitable approaches for content development to the client services team when projects are being planned

Production and technical

  • Desktop publishing: laying out and correcting documents in InDesign, creating and checking print-ready files, re-drawing figures
  • Conference materials: editing and laying out PowerPoint files, checking presentations for technical issues
  • Approval systems: submitting project materials to online approval systems such as ZincMaps and Veeva Vault
  • Web-based materials: creating and updating web-pages using content management systems
  • Video-based materials: attending video shoots to identify issues that will create potential technical or content problems; reviewing video edits

Knowledge acquisition and application

  • Developing a comprehensive knowledge of therapy areas that you work on (e.g. treatment in clinical practice, evidence base and the key UK opinion leaders in the field). Using this knowledge to provide recommendations to colleagues or client
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice and applying this to project materials and arrangements. Advising colleagues who require support on this topic.

Communication and customer service

  • Collaborate closely and transparently with the Principal Medical Writer and Editor and other members of the editorial and client services team to ensure successful project delivery
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of suppliers (e.g. printers, communications agencies), clients and healthcare professionals as required
