What does a Pharmacy Technician do?



Typically, a Pharmacy Technician:

  • Reports, and receives instructions from, the Pharmacist;
  • Prepares and procures all the material needs of the Pharmacist and ensures that all equipment and gadgets in the laboratory are well maintained and in good working condition;
  • Assists the Pharmacist in some minor work like entering data in the computer and printing some copies as needed;
  • Does errands assigned by the Pharmacist, such as delivering and getting letters and other mail matters;
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned to him by the Pharmacist.

  • Graduate of a 2-year vocational course, or undergraduate in one of the life sciences;
  • Preferably with work experiences in a pharmaceutical firm, drugstores, or in some companies;
  • Has worked as a technician in another company for at least 3 years.



A Pharmacy Technician, after at least 5 years, might progress to a Pharmacy Data Entry Personnel.
