Over 50 campaigns from 34 pharmaceutical companies represented by 35 agencies achieved recognition as finalists at the PM Society Digital Media Awards 2012. The winners and commendations were announced on Thursday, 4 October at a ceremony in London by comedian and author Dominic Holland. Finalists had been selected from over 190 entries, judged in a rigorous two-stage process online and face-to-face by a panel of 42 judges – all pharmaceutical industry digital specialists or marketers, and healthcare professionals.
Creative Lynx, alone and in joint entries with MedNet Consult and Havas Life Medicom, took home five trophies, closely followed by Big Pink and woolley pau gyro with two each. Other winning agencies included OMP Digital, RFA Advertising & Marketing and Swordfish Advertising. The Digital Account or Project Management Award went to Hannah Newman of RFA Advertising & Marketing while the coveted Digital Pioneer Award went to GSK’s Jon Vernon.
For the first time, healthcare communications agencies had a real presence with Aurora, Havas Life Medicom and Tonic Life Communications each scooping a gong. Agencies and their clients represented among the campaigns achieving ‘highly commended’, included Darwin Healthcare Communications for Roche; Hive Health eBee for Gilead; Nitro Digital for Boehringer Ingelheim; Ogilvy Digital Health & Medical Education for BMS &AZ; Oi Media/ MHP Health Mandate for Bayer; Random42 Medical Animation for Amgen; Replay Digital for Merck Serono; and Reynolds-MacKenzie for SKCIN.

Over 500 guests attended the PM Society Digital Awards Ceremony at The Brewery, London EC1 where they were entertained by qualified GP and comedian Paul Sinha. They dug deep for PM Society nominated charity 2012 Bliss, the UK charity working to provide the best possible care and support for all premature and sick babies and their families - www.bliss.org.uk – raising over £5,200. Dominic Holland kept the audience on tenterhooks with cabaret ahead of presenting the 16 Digital Media Awards. A highlight of the evening was the Innovation Category, presented by Para-T cyclists and 2012 medal winners Jody Cundy MBE and David Stone MBE. Celebrations continued long into the night.
