SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Oct. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP), a leading provider of data analytics and benchmarking to post-acute care providers, is releasing its Real-Time Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Total Performance Score dashboard at the end of October.

By 2018, 90 percent of all fee-for-service (FFS) Medicare payments for beneficiary care will be tied to value and quality, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Starting in 2016, home healthcare agencies in nine specific states have been reimbursed under the new CMS Home Health Value-Based Purchasing Program (HHVBP).

HHVBP creates a pressing need for actionable data analytics. Home health agencies that operate in one of the HHVBP demonstration states and agencies that want to be ready when their respective states join the program will need real-time metrics in a format to help them quickly act on areas to improve value and quality.

As a leader in data analytics and benchmarking, SHP is bringing forward new tools that agencies need to succeed under the HHVBP payment model.

"Value-based purchasing is top of mind for many of our customers, whether in the current demonstration states or in the future expansion of the program. Our customers look to us to give them the necessary actionable data to succeed in the ever changing healthcare industry," said Rob Paulsson, president of SHP.

While the industry is still waiting for the CY 2017 home health final rule to confirm the CMS-proposed HHVBP changes, SHP has focused its efforts to deliver its state-of-the-art Real-Time HHVBP report that will be available by the end of October. SHP customers will use the report to get information that helps them ensure profitability, while simultaneously improving publicly reported quality and star ratings.

Chris Attaya, SHP's vice president of business intelligence, confirms that "SHP continues to closely monitor all CMS announcements and developments to keep ahead of changes with HHVBP. We will be updating our customers on what to expect from HHVBP and on what SHP is doing to support them through the transition," said Attaya.
