Posted on: 31 Aug 17

MedtechWomen today announced speakers for the organization’s MedtechVision 2017 conference, which will focus on the theme of “Evolution of Medtech.” The sold-out conference will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, Calif.

“This year’s theme, the Evolution of Medtech, will examine a sector whose historical model has been challenged by powerful trends in recent years,” said Amy Belt Raimundo, co-founder of MedtechWomen and managing director of Kaiser Permanente Ventures. “We are excited to bring together leaders in our field to discuss how advancing technology, industry convergence and new players leveraging data, connectivity and partnerships can create significant new opportunities for the medtech industry.”

“We’re thrilled that the MedtechVision conference, for the seventh year in a row, continues to spotlight expert women voices in this sector,” said Deborah Kilpatrick, Ph.D., MedtechWomen co-founder and CEO of Evidation Health. “This year we’re ready to examine the theme of change in medtech, which underlies the future of health care overall.”

MedtechVision 2017 will feature an opening keynote from Dr. Sarah Kimball, a physician and advocate for Type 1 diabetes care whose experiences with DIY automated insulin delivery were foundational for startup Bigfoot Biomedical. Deborah DiSanzo, General Manager of IBM Watson Health, will close the conference with a keynote discussing the rapidly changing healthcare landscape and the opportunity to use data analytics technology to develop innovative solutions across the industry.

In addition, the event will host more than a dozen distinguished panelists and speakers including executives from Medtronic Neurovascular, Kaiser Permanente, Microsoft, Experien Group, Ruckus Partners, Acessa Health Inc., Teleflex, Endologix, Walgreens Women in Technology (WIT), Siemens Healthineers, ForSight Labs, Intersect ENT, Evidation Health, Intel Corporation, Kinsa, Outset Medical, Hometeam, and Maven.

The conference organizers will also present this years’ winner of the Ferolyn Powell Leadership Award. Established in 2015, the award recognizes a leader who embodies persistence, passion, dedication to innovation and patients, and commitment to mentoring others in our field.

The Diamond sponsor for the conference is Medtronic, the global leader in medical technology—alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life for millions of people around the world. Gold sponsors include Abbott, Fish & Richardson, and Stryker. Additional sponsors include Kilpatrick Townsend, Venable LLP, AdvaMed Advanced Medical Technology Association, BioQuest, Lazar Partners Ltd., iRhythm Technologies Inc., Health+Commerce, and Sprig Consulting.
