CALIBRE Systems, Inc. (CALIBRE) has announced their win of a new contract with the National Library of Medicine.

CALIBRE will support the National Library of Medicine by reviewing and entering metadata on journal article citations that have been approved for indexing in MEDLINE, a database of bibliographic information for medicine and the life sciences. Fulfilling these requirements will enhance retrieval of the journal literature on biomedicine and the life sciences via the PubMed/MEDLINE database. The bibliographic citations are supplied electronically by journal publishers in XML-tagged files and edited in the PubMed Data Management system (PMDM).

“CALIBRE’s expertise in electronic records and health information management enables us to support a complex and essential task for the National Library of Medicine,” said Joe Martore, CALIBRE President & CEO. “PMDM allows the publishers of medical journals to update, correct, or delete their citations in the MEDLINE database at any time, and CALIBRE helps to ensure that all journal article citations are up to date. Accurate journal citations are crucial tools for medical and scientific researchers.”

Alexandria, Virginia-based CALIBRE Systems, Inc. is an employee-owned management consulting and information technology solutions company supporting government and industry.
